Daeshon Hall

I went back and watched the 2nd string defensive lines in both preseason games. Hall has been extremely underwhelming even against 2nd/3rd string o-lineman. His effort looks like crap, blocked out of a run play by a tight end and gave hardly any fight. Then on the final Miami TD we dropped him in coverage. He was staring  Bryce Petty down head on as he scrambled ahead for the TD but a quick fake to the right juked him right out of the play.

Based on the rotation in the first 2 games, I'd say all of these ends are ahead of him on the current depth chart.

Haynes,Obada, and Zach Moore.  Thats 6 total ahead of him when you include Pep,Mario and Horton.

Haynes has looked just as good as Obada as this point. Did you mean Hall? I think its a strong possibility he doesn't make it.

yes I meant hall, apologies, Haynes looks like hes got speed, probably still better suited to be in the 3-4.

The crazy thing is, if Hall goes in the next game and has a sack people will be saying what a great depth guy he is.

Hall is doing just fine as far as disrupting the QB, he could do a little better at setting the edge in the run game but I think he'll make the 53.

Seriously guys, I'm not trying to be funny, but this is another case where I don't know what you're looking at. Hall is still learning, sure, but he is getting some pressure which in turn allows others to do their thing. Much too early for this kind of talk based upon the evidence.

I saw the same thing you did.. And I guess ppl really don't understand it takes at least 3 years for a Dlinemen to reach his potential.. And Hall lost a full season.. This is way to early to have a opinion on him..

It's the yearly preseason where people overrate/underrate depth players game-to-game. There another thread talking about how Jermaine Carter might already be our 4th best LB lol

    • I've shown you numerous comps for other tackles in the same age and talent range.  His contract, taking into account his age, health, etc.  is the going rate.  It's a fair deal. I've shown you examples of how long it usually takes to find even an average replacement.  Hell, look at every tackle that has ever started for the Panthers.  How many would you consider a success?  They are not easy to find. After everything we've done with this team since drafting Bryce why would we decide to let our best linemen go and add a huge question mark at tackle?   FA is a crapshoot in which any guy available will have cons/issues.  If not, they'll cost a fortune.   Outside of a first or maybe 2nd round pic next year it'll take a few years for a tackle to learn the position at the NFL level.  There are still questions about Icky. Every vet NFL player deals with maintenance.  Between the contract value and history I'm not overly worried about his knee.  I contend his knee issue isn't anything to be overly worried about.  It's not zero risk but it's an acceptable risk.  Every player we draft and every contract we sign has risk.  You're blowing up his own negative words about his knees and ignoring him saying he is healthy and the knee is a non issue.  You have a strong chicken little complex with this team.  Being he has always been a Panther they are very aware of any health issues. We paid now because now is cheaper.  If his knee was really an issue they would have waited.  That tells me it's not the issue you want it to be.
