Hurricane Florence

Not sure this has been posted I will repost

The Carolina Panthers aren't changing their plans due to Hurricane Florence.

Coach Ron Rivera told reporters on Thursday the Panthers plan to practice in Charlotte on Friday.

Rivera added the team is still monitoring contingencies. If something were to change drastically with Hurricane Florence, the Panthers could leave Friday, but at this point, the plan is to go about their week in the usual fashion.

Keeping normal protocol would entail leaving for Atlanta on Saturday ahead of Sunday's tilt versus the Falcons.

The outer wall of the hurricane officially made landfall earlier on Thursday. Hurricane Florence was reduced to a Category 2 with wind gusts of 105 mph. Due to the long duration, slow movement of the storm, Florence is still expected to bring life-threatening storm surge and potential flash flooding to the area, according to the Weather Channel.

I’m in New Bern. A good bit of the town is underwater. This is not good.

I’m on high ground on a bluff above a wide part of the river. Flooding is not a concern for me. As long as a tree doesn’t get my house, I should be ok. However there are many here losing everything. I’m talking entire neighborhoods under water. This could be Katrina bad if it does to a bigger population center what it’s done here.

Stay safe. New Bern is getting the brunt of the storm and with it slow movement it will get more unfortunately.

I am north of you in washington.  We are getting some serious gusts and the river is way up into places it normally does not go.  Like you. I am way above the river so the surge is not hurting me.

Looks like it will be a while before this mess is out of here.

Sitting here in the dark with these scary gusts is not fun.

Stay safe.

According to the rdar, Right now looks like forward edge of the eyewall is hitting Pender, Onslow and southern edge of Carteret Counties.  We are getting some heavy rain and wind and very heavy gusts down here in Brunswick as well - Im sure New Hanover is taking a beating as well.  Storm moving slow as hell.  Power going out at any time I bet.

People living right on the coast or close to rivers or sounds should have evacuated

Im on some pretty high ground in fayeteville and stocked up for 2 plus weeks if needed.  So only thing im concerned about are these old ass trees in my neigborhood.  Imo all the ones right next to houses should have been cut down as a saftey precaution.

    • I would say that he's pulling things out of his ass to get people to visit his site.
    • Yep. I was hoping for and calling for a day three guy. But I didn’t research the position to say if we should or should‘t have jumped at a particular guy at a particular spot.    And everything I read said it was a poor draft for RBs depth wise. I guess when Seattle takes a backup RB in the 1st, that kind of backs that up.    I definitely think we should keep 4 running backs and if King can play well enough then keep him too.    I believe I heard Canales say we are a running team (talking about drafting a WR he will be needing to block as well as catch). Well if we are gonna be a running team by identity we don’t need to stock the WR room to overflowing. If one room has to sacrifice, it should not be the RB room given our circumstances.
    • If there's a pattern I'm definitely picking up from Dan and company is a philosophy of making trades where we try not to sacrifice the number of draft picks we have by day's end. In other words, we're not giving up three picks for one, or giving up a future pick to make a pick today. And even if we give up something at the start, we make trades later to make up for that initial loss. Here's how it stacked up for 2026: How we started: 19, 51, 83, 119, 158, 159, 200 How we ended: 19, 49, 83, 129, 144, 151, 227 (no future picks sacrificed) Ultimately, we moved up two spots in the second to ensure we got someone we coveted, gave up a few spots for our fourth round pick, but then had better picks in the 5th (and got really good value out of them), and had a worse 7th rounder which isn't that big of a loss anyways.  At this point, we can question who they draft, but they're pretty good maneuvering across the draft board.
