This One Was on the Defense

No pressure on matt Ryan today. No sacks and the poo stain ran for 2 TDs. We got gashed in the running game giving up the 1st 100 yard rusher in 22 games. Missed tackles galore.

Sure there were drops by the WRs on offense but Cam still threw for 71%.

Butler, Mayo, Munnerlyn, Adams...poo the bed today.

Addison, Peppers, Horton, KK...where were you?

Luke...4 missed tackles that i know of but damn you can only ask so much from one guy

Shitty performance by the defense.

Yep.

Mayo, Butler, Addison, & Horton all had pretty bad days and were a big part of run d issues.

With Mayo next to Luke, we lose TD's sideline to sideline speed and Adams has to come up more to attack the runner.  Problem is that he's slow as sh*t.

We were slow and not generating pressure..even with a blitz.  Pass rush is lacking.  Pepp can't go for a whole game and Addison is not ideal against the run.  Horton is average. They all disguise eachother's weaknesses in rotation but got rocked today.  Maybe we should get Cox or Obada in there.

When you DROP nine passes, one going for an interception that proved to cost us the game, you put your defense on thei field too much.  They gashed us on Thomas Davis' side.   So blame illegal supplements.

I'll grant that was bad, but it's not like the defense waited until the third quarter before they started giving up big plays.

One interception never costs you the game...the overall performance of the defense cost us the game.

It's absolutely on the D. Yeah, we had some dropped balls, but that pales in comparison to mistake after mistake after mistake on D. They gashed us on the ground, they shredded us through the air. They did whatever they wanted. It's a testament to the grit shown by the offense that we were even remotely competitive today. The D tried to get us blown out.

This. I put it equally on defense and drops by multiple players.

Actually at the end of the game the defense did what they needed to do and stopped them to give us a chance to win at the end. And we were one DJ Moore circus catch and 2 point coversion away from winning .

I personally think the defense had a fluke game. We have 2 very winnable games coming up at home after this one and then TD coming back.

    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
    • Don’t recall seeing many of his interviews but what strikes me is that he engages and goes in depth. Even with the cliche answers as referenced by OP come across somewhat thoughtful.  Very likable personality despite being someone who can crush an average person like I can crush a paper cup. I knew Motons mother had a career at MSU but was looking on the google and found that Mushin Muhammad personally knew Motons grandfather.   His late grandfather was a professor at MSU.   Cool guy.  Interesting family and small world.
    • I think people aren’t patient enough with Young. It can take a few years for a QB to develop. Look at Darnold, Baker and most recently Daniel Jones.   he hasn’t been able to put up big passing numbers either cause of how much we run the ball. You can tell our coaching staff still hasn’t took the training wheels off Bryce and let him go all out. We’ve had some pretty bad receivers as well. We finally got a true number one last year and look how much Bryce improved. Still we didn’t really have any depth behind TMac. Coker was hurt for a lot of the year and XL was our #2. How many big plays or TDs has XL dropped? I think this year can be the year we see Bryce able to hit his stride. If not then we can start looking for another qb but I just ask people to be patient.
