NFL.com now says "completion percentage isn't everything" after Cam's 71% game.

#1, is that even English quoted in the first post?

"the inefficiently is concerning"

Ok, lol...

And #2, I honestly quit paying attention to national media when it comes to Cam.  If they praise him, I'll share that.  If they put him down, I ignore it and basically blacklist that writer/talking head.  And normally, my approach in everything else in life is not to ignore those I don't agree with, but instead keep up with their opinion as well so I can have an informed understanding of them and how to attack their argument.  But, not with Cam...  because if anyone is still out their framing and re-framing arguments to fit their narrative so they can poo on him, it's clear that they either a) haven't watched our games so they have no idea that he carries an entire team every week like no player before or after him,  or b) have watched our games and just hate him anyway in hopes of creating a grassroots effort to undermine his career and legacy.

So, in short, fug them.  Cam is a once in a lifetime talent.  He is the Michael Jordan of football.

This is pretty much parody at this point. The national media cannot make up its mind.

Only thing consistent is trying to fit whatever narrative they can to make sure Cam Newton never gets credit for anything.

This is absolute parody right now.

They also said:

Cam Newton's re-acclimation to life without Greg Olsen looks to be a struggle. The Carolina Panthers' quarterback got little help from his receiving corps early...With the ground-game stymied, Carolina's offense was relegated to a dink-and-dunk operation. It took until under seven minutes left in the second game for the Panthers to earn their first 20-plus receiving play of the season. Newton entered the fourth quarter averaging 4.9 yards per attempt.... Without Olsen, Newton's targets repeatedly let him down

I took that as talking about the offense as a whole, not a swipe at Cam.

Cam just can't win. Ryan Fitzpatrick does his postgame presser in a ridiculous outfit and the media thinks is awesome. Cam does it every week and the media makes fun of him.

Cam played a near flawless game with 3 guys playing in different positions on the Oline than they were last week.

Today was MVP level Cam. I've seen Cam have rough games. He was amazing today. Anyone who says otherwise didnt actually watch the game

This. Especially the part about bad having seen Cam have bad games. I'd say for the first quarter or so he wasn't seeing the field well and was wide on a lot of throws. But he settled down and had one of the better games I've ever seen him have, just no help from the receivers.

    • I can't tell you what other's expect from him before they will start believing in him. I think for some, they will never be able to overcome his size. I think that is the fundemental problem for them which means they will never be happy with him behind center. For others, it seems he will have to be in the top 10% in pretty much every catagory and do that all seaon for them to start believing in him. Not everyone of course. There are people on this board that, while have doubts, can still acknowledge his good plays and are willing to give him another season. Those folks I would assume just want consistency - and wins. I could be off on all the above but that's kind of how I see it. And while you didn't ask, I will say I'm glad they picked up his 5th year option. He earned it. I do not think he should be signed to a long term contract yet. I do think he will develope in a franchise QB and will get the Panthers back into the playoffs and win them but I know I could be wrong. Next year will be the big test. If the offense continues to improve and they get back to the playoffs because of the offense, it will be time to sign him long term. If it's a repeat of this year, then it's time to look elsewhere for a QB. Like I said though, I believe he can be the guy so would be surprised if he doesn't make it.
    • Well since I am so biased, why don’t you tell us what he has to do to earn the trust of everyone that doubts him? If you say he has already done it, we really will never agree.
    • Also, do you think it a bit odd that the media has ignored it? Maybe they haven’t. But I am not aware of it being written or talked about.
