I was really high on Mayfield comingout compsred to some.

He reminds me so much of Drew Brees, and not beciase their size.

You flip on Bree's Purdue tape and you see a LOT of Mayfield.  Their accuracy, quickness to get the ball out, cannon for size, the way he see's the field, and mobile

Im glad the Saints didnt get him.  It quite possibly couldve been another Rogers situation learning behind Bree's

Brees has said the same himself. Pretty sure Brees has actually said that Mayfield could be better than him.

A TON of analysts ripped the Browns for Picking Ward where they did over Chubb etc

Dude has looked like this years Lattimore so far.

I said from day 1 during the draft process he is a Lattimore lite (lite because he’s about 15 pounds lighter) both so damn smooth and athletic.

He's proved me wrong, didnt think he'd be a bust but thought his ceiling was a Talib.  But the dude has been Balling.

This Cleveland D is 1 piece away from being Good.  Shutdown corner, young edge pass rusher.  Underrated young LB

Cam started from day one. So did Peyton. So did Roethlisberger. Plenty of great QBs start from day one.

I'm a firm believer that you either have it or you don't. Sitting a guy doesn't protect him from anything. At some point, you're going to hit a rough patch. You either have the mental fortitude to push through it or you don't. Whether it happens as a rookie or whenever you get your shot doesn't really matter. I'm not ready to crown Mahomes yet (or Fitz in TB for that matter). Plenty of QBs have looked good in flashes but as teams get more film on a guy in that system to study, that's when the truth comes out.

Tim Couch started from day 1, David Carr, Ryan Leaf, and many, many, other bust started day 1. While, if they would've sat and learned the position for a year, ya never know. There are far many failures than success stories from day 1 starters. While sitting a highly picked guy for a year or two, there's only success stories from what I gather.

I personally think Cam would be better than he is now if he would've sat for a year. Reps are cool and all, but if your team, and more specifically your o-line is hot garbage, it will probably hinder your growth. Point, blank, period.

I think those busts would've likely busted anyway. No way to re-write history. One thing is for sure, there have been and there will be many guys start from day one and succeed. There also have been and will be guys sit and learn and succeed. And vice versa for both as well.

There's no foolproof formula either way. You just have to find the right guy and I think the right guy ultimately succeeds either way and it's why I don't advocate sitting a guy just because he's a rookie.

There's far more bust that have started day 1 though. That's the thing, that's also why I think there is a better percentage that QB will become good-great if they sit. Rookie or not. Look at Tribusky for fugs sake. He looks lost out there. You sit him, and let him learn, I think he would be honestly better right now.
