I like this guy already and he already taught me something i didn't know. I was unaware that black people were excluded from social security for 20 years, I guess I'm not surprised it just never really thought about it.

I’m intrigued by “the offer was better” answer as well.

Was he simply referring to the money; because we sure aren’t paying him a lot.

Or was he referring to the fact that he more than likely would have been in basketball terms the 6th man, coming off the bench to spell Exum and Tartt In San Francisco.

I’ll also say this in regards to the “divisive tone” comment. I picked up on it a little as well and that is where I do disagree with Reid. Cam does a fantastic job at being inclusive in his answers. He was recently asked about how Marlin Briscoe (AFL quarterback) paved the way for African-American quarterbacks. Cam noted that he certainly did but that he also paved the way for athletic quarterbacks and mentioned Wentz, Watson, and Wilson by name. It was a phenomenal answer.

Shanahan is quoted as saying that if they brought him back that he would be a backup, and that he knows he doesn't want to be a backup, so he thought he'd go somewhere else.

Since Eric Reid was outspoken about his politics I am trying to let everyone have their say in here.

but that is directly proportional to how much work I have to do.

If personal attacks happen vacations will be issued.

It's going to happen. I'm already there favorite target. I'm backing away all cool though.

I really like Reid. He's upfront, and he seems like a genuinely good guy who is in touch with the community.

As for this thread, and the huddle. Maybe instead of allowing posters like bull123/Snake to consistently litter in threads like these until they are eventually moved, you could just send them packing already?

The greatest irony in political discussion these days is that when someone says something that is agreed with, it's good that person speaks put and they're "in touch" or whatever else. When someone speaks up with something that is disagreed with, that person should shut up and if not, that person should be removed.

And I'm not picking sides with that comment. I've certainly seen that vibe from both sides of this issue and practically every other political issue under the sun.

I will never understand people who have a meltdown because someone is trying to use their voice for a good cause.  You're the ones creating the unnecessary controversy over this. Some people don't want to go through life feeling like they only tried to make money, and never tried to make a difference.   I only care what he does on the football field, and if he wants to protest or talk about his cause to the media, so what?

I think a lot of people watch football to get away from all of the political and religious stuff.  Imagine if you were to go watch a movie but before the movie played the actors or directors put in a political statement.  People wouldn't like that either.  But ultimately we all have the choice to watch or not watch.  In the end it all comes down to dollars whatever the political discussion would be.

Personally I don't care one way or the other.  I happen to think that today it's more about poor people being poo on and not so much about race, even though race issues are still there and probably will always be to a degree.

I dont understand the distraction angle. Does a coworker expressing social justice opinions at work suddenly make you perform badly at your job? Like if Jim Bob at Wal-Mart hears something he doesn't like from Carol-the-cashier he suddenly starts stocking things on completely wrong shelves?

Because not everyone wants to rehash civil rights every moment of their life. I'm all for the guy not working with the NFL or not supporting the NFL at all. I'm ok with him starting a fund to fight injustice, but I don’t like to hear about his opinions on it. I rather hear his opinion on football.

im sorry your entertainment comes with a major inconvenience

Or forced them to read about a subject before they comment on it.. If you're a racist.. Be a racist.. Atleast be a well read one.. Don't be the trailer park trash ones.. Mad that they can't tap into their white privilege..lol

By wearing a shirt saying "i'm with kap" to your first press conference, you're opening up the flood gates to questions about the anthem protest and politics.

but that's exactly what eric reid wanted

I don't think anyone expected less unfortunately. Question is how much it will effect our team. Winning its all good but what happens when Reid blames came for a loss or not supporting his cause? Or calls Olson or Kalil a racist. That's when it will become bad.

    • excellent points and insights.  I agree on Tepper.  I guess I worry that his questions and comments might influence the thinking of his employees, that his presence in the room might add pressure to an already stressful situation, but after watching it again, it does not appear to be like that.  Morgan was in charge.  Canales mentioned needing a center, but beyond that, he was there to serve as a consultant, more or less, if asked.  I suppose my point was this--everyone knew their roles, I did not see egos--I saw empowerment.  As for Morgan--I saw a leader that listened to others, made wise decisions, and never lost control.  I was VERY IMPRESSED with Dan Morgan.
    • Pretty good summation, although I would caution just a bit that there might be a little of over-enhanced expectations. I do agree with the assessment on BPA. It was exceedingly clear they had a specific shopping list. Early on when there was some discussion about the tackles available, Morgan was asked if he was willing to give up a 5th to get Freeling, if it came to that. I think the only way it wasn't a left tackle with that 1st pick is if none that were valued as a 1st were still available.
    • a) That they made it a point in the room to point at the paper and say, "hope the camera got that" suggests we really did target the players we wanted and got them. While there is a ton of editing happening to cut out conversations not related to the players we picked, there didn't seem to be a lot of panic about who/what was going on b) Tepper appreciates the analytics. Now that he has a few years to see how the front office team works together to do the analysis, it still looks like he's hands-off (he's learned his lesson??). He seemed less vocal than in previous years' Blueprints (at least, in the edit).  I wouldn't expect Canales to be overly vocal in the draft room - he's likely already made his opinions known behind the scenes about certain players. Draft day is Morgan and Tilis and Eager's day. Loved seeing their interactions/conversations  c) that's all Eager. There's a great piece somewhere about the analytics engine he built floating around somewhere (maybe it was just after the draft?), and how he's constantly tweaking it with info about the players and input from the coaching staff.  That the post-draft press - for the most part - all seem to be overly positive about the draft actions we had compared to other teams makes it seem like we've gotten the ship moving in the right direction. Whether it translates to on-field results, well, that's a different topic for hundreds of other threads
