Film Room: Christian McCaffrey’s versatility in the Panthers' scheme

 

 

Mr. Gold loves CMC and we both agreed on similar things when it comes to CMC.  He should line up more often as a slot WR option. He is assisted with better OL play and majority of his runs are with motion going on in the formation. CMC also has incredible vision and has improved his blocking since last year.  Also CMC is not the kind of back that will break tackles consistently but can juke you in open space down field. Love this breakdown. Enjoy

I was watching his Bengals highlights the other day after a few IPAs. His patience and vision seems to have improved a lot from last year. It's beautiful to watch.

I hope they continue this since he can be a major factor for years

Yeah, he's a real damn nightmare for defenses now after that Bengals game. I imagine coordinators replaying him running over Nickerson in their heads wondering "wtf do we do now?". Still, his single most effective play is that simple texas route where he runs outside then cuts back inside, making a linebacker trip over his own nut sack in the process. I feel if we run that play 100 times a game, it'll work 99 times until the defense sells out to stop it.

The one RB that I see use patience the best is Bell...and CMC is starting to take his time on plays and letting them develop...last year I think he was ready to burst through the line ASAP and not let plays develop...he's got the patience down now and its paying off big time.  Ready for the Giants this week!

  I see at as 100% opposite. Last year, he danced sideways. Sometimes because he had no choice. Now he always cuts while moving forward. That’s his biggest strength. Cutting while at top speed. Not stopping and starting. 

  As Jeremy stated in preseason/TC, the major difference in CMC from last year was him running downhill. He not trying to elude people side to side. Just small cuts where he doesn’t lose power through the hole. That’s why he’s running through tackles this year. No hesitation.

Honestly I saw a little bit of both. I think it was part of because of the O-line and some because he was getting use to the speed of the NFL, trying to find his rhythm.

CMC may look better in the slot, but the offense would suffer...IMO.

This is just more backhanded compliments by Kaseklosed because he hates CMC as a RB. same as his other bad thread about CMC

That certainly was a factor. He could “dance” around PAC 12 guys and make some amazing runs. Just too much speed now and he has made an impressive adjustment.

      Umm yeah. When did he get it done at the right time? I seem to remember a 4-6 finish and needing Atlanta to win our way into the playoffs but whatever.

      I mean....no lies detected. See above. We have traded a fortune to draft a guy #1 overall that people have lowered standards for to the point that not playing like Jimmy Clausen and looking like a poor man's Kyle Allen occasionally is worthy of a contract extension making him one of the highest paid QB's in the league.
