Anyway, I hope this place improves to your liking.

 Do not in any way turn this around on @ladypanther as if she's the only poster feeling this way and she's the problem and she should be the object of everyone's replies. She's not the only one that feels this way. Far from it.

in ten years of posting here i see a post like this every year bemoaning day's gone by. that's the nature of forums. regulars come and go and much like parents complaining about their kids' music, somebody's always pining for the way things used to be.

imo the best thing to do is go make good posts and ignore the bad ones.

So if someone complains about the attitudes being displayed but doesn't bring up the past, it's okay? lol I do agree that making good posts is one answer. By the title of her post, I would guess that she's also considering that potential new members might bypass signing up.

I’m only one man, I can only make so many good posts. I’m definitely going to need some of you to start carrying your weight around here. My back is starting to kill me.

i've admittedly turned into something of a driveby poster over the past couple of years. way too much going on to dedicate much more than bathroom breaks to posting.

which is ultimately why good posters leave. it's not that they've been driven away (unless they, i don't know, feel unwelcome in a forum with a "i hate n*****s" thread allowed to flourish in the subs) it's that they're adults with lives and poo to do. invariably it's the teenage dirtbags with no responsibilities that sit around and dump third rate opinions in the forum. so it goes.

i like LP and this isn't a commentary on her post or the sentiments she expressed in it, only an observation about the ebb and flow of online forums. i've seen it happen on multiple forums. it's the way of the internet (and social groups in general, in all reality.)

Well, there's "positive" and there's "Pollyanna".  One is okay, the other not so much.

If I were to characterize my mood right now, I don't think I'd opt for "negative" so much as "concerned".  There are certainly positive things about this team, but to say there aren't things that are worrisome takes some denial of reality.

You can hang on to that for a while, but when it comes crashing down you're worse off than if you'd just accepted the truth all along.

Said it elsewhere: When I watch the other teams that are considered the best in the league right now, I ask myself whether we could match up with them.  My answer right now?  Doubt it.  In 2015, I believed it.  Not this season.

Right now, the highest I'm willing to go for is that we might have a winning record.  And while it'll be cool to have back to back winning seasons finally, it'll also be kinda holly if we get pushed out of the playoffs like we don't belong (or don't make it at all).

Teams, coaches and players don't have to be perfect, but I at least need to see "really good" before I can take my hopes higher.  I'm not seeing that right now.

So basically, "concerned", and until I see things looking different, I have reason to be.

I was just kidding with my post above obviously. But there was a time when I took this place seriously as well and really enjoyed coming to discuss football. However those days are long gone as there just isn’t enough quality posters around here anymore  like you said.

This place is good to come to if you want to save time and make one quick stop to check out any Panthers related news for the day. As far as actual football discussion that ship has sailed.

Congrats on the film btw

anyway i'm far more concerned that opposing teams fans go to the forum from the football team in the carolinas and see "i hate n*****s" as the top thread in a subforum populated by proud boy members, disparate white supremecists, and literal advocates of genocide. bad, bad optics.

WTF, damn shame

No way blame Jeremy.  You have a new account....have more of a history?

I am talking about everyone...we are all responsible for the quality of our posts. Can't blame anyone else. Personal responsibility dude.

I’ll blame myself for always ghosting and surfing but not participating in the discussion nearly as much as I can.  I appreciate your intention with your original post and will make an effort to contribute to constructive dialogue with meaningful contributions where I deem fit

Since drafting Cam this place has gone to poo, read into that however you want.

Igo has not helped because his focus is on clicks based on media/mindless Cam or team bullshit and is what he seems to think should drive this place, that can certainly get annoying. Kind of like the news focusing on negativity to up their viewer numbers. But I don’t blame him for trying to up his buisness.

Truth hurts.

All that said this forum is still better than any other NFC south teams’ forum IMO.

I haven’t been around here very long so can’t compare with the past. However, there are some very good posters here (the OP is clearly one of them) who have been a big help to me in learning the game as a foreign newbie.

To me, it becomes about selective reading, I move very quickly past the “Sack everyone” “I’m not going to watch anymore” nonsense and concentrate on the interesting stuff, as it does exist.

I don’t know why you are upset with what I said. I really was being sincere when I said I hope it improves to where she becomes happy with this place. I hope this place improves to where everyone is happy. I certainly didn’t deserve this remark what so ever, How am I turning anything around @GRWatcher? I was rambling so i ended my post.

I mean rather than turn this into another post complaining about posts complaining about the Panthers why don't we try to be slightly constructive?

There are still good, well thought out and presented threads made by quite a few people. I remember when they used to be the majority, but then threads linking to the latest Cowherd face fart or someone's mouth diarrhea on Rivera/Turner/Richardson etc...) would be allowed to reach 15 pages and the quality threads would disappear. I remember asking Jeremy if we could pin posts that were well researched and written to avoid them getting lost and I know I'm not the only one who did.

I also remember when obvious troll accounts were relegated to Smack Talk (which was actually pretty entertaining) rather than being allowed to keep stringing pointless threads out forever.

I don't wanna complain about poor content, I've got eyes and can avoid it if I want. But I'm finding less content that's worth clicking on when I visit and I know plenty of posters who gave up trying to filter through the crap to find something worth reading.

    • Yeah not taking that Burns trade was infinitely stupid. We seem to be finally righting the ship but, imo, our biggest issue since Tepper bought the team has been coaches and management having a poor understanding of where our own roster is at. Starting with that idiot Rhule drinking his own kool-aid and thinking he was going to come and take the NFL by storm with Teddy freaking Bridgewater. Could have just kept Cam on the last year of his contract and gone from there but noooo that fat slob had to feel like he was the big man on campus. First round wizard Marty Hurney who, for whatever his faults, has a freaking HOF track record with first round picks, wants to trade up for Hebert but fat fug Rhule says no. Then we kept Rhule for 3 years which is absolutely unbelievable to me and every single year he treated our roster like it was just one player away trading our draft picks for Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield who have proven since leaving that Matt Rhule was an even bigger idiot of a coach than we thought. We finally seem to understand we are a ways off and trade CMC, but then we don’t take the actual good trade for Brian Burns who was never better than a run of the mill situational pass rusher. Then we botch the self scout of our OL (and team) after Wilks, even though they were bad before Wilks simplified the scheme, thinking they can execute whatever the hell Reich and Brown were trying to do. So we win a couple meaningless games playing dummy ball and Fitterer thinks we’re a player away again. And nobody even considers that having the slowest receiving corps imaginable with Damiere freaking Byrd, who can’t even make it to the season before being injured and cut, as your only hope for speed, coupled with the worst pass blocking OL I’ve ever seen, might lead to titanic levels of disaster. The way Canales and Morgan have been adamant about constantly bringing competition at every position has been refreshing and made a huge difference. I was kind of worried that we had fallen into our old ways leading up to the draft with all the talk of defense only and worried that they might feel the offense was set. Very glad to see they were not complacent on that. My big thing now is I’m still wondering why Evero is still here. I can’t think of a single player who has gotten better under him, and the Broncos defense got better once he left. We’ll see.
    • really good interview that gives some insight into their decision making process in making up the schedules and the issues they run into with so many people broadcasting games now. also some interesting discussion on what they have going on and where they might be heading in the international games. vikings have 2 of them, btw. we might be seeing more of that.
    • wow i absolutely LOVED watching that.   will watch again...and again...and again.
