Why isn't Taylor Moton playing left tackle?

Credentials, schmentials. We demand a Coach that will give us 40 points a game. While holding opposing Offenses to 16 points in the process. Anything less is unacceptable.

We want Lombardi's every year. Hellz, twice a year.

Seriously, it truly does seem as though folks really do believe it should be just that easy. Fix this mess, and we are gold. Easy peasy.

I mean, sure, there seems to be something just a tad off this year. But man, we have become a team that is competitive every year. Why is that not enough?

If a team that is "competitive every year" is enough for you, then yeah, you're in the right place.

I'd prefer a team that wins some championships.

No, not every season because that's impossible, but I'd at least like to know we're in realistic contention more years than not.

I don't believe that happens under current leadership.

We were just in a Super Bowl. So yes, I think Rivera has proven he can get us there. Not sure why folks are claiming Ron can't win one. We were a hairs breadth from winning that one. Lots of teams lost their first Super Bowl, and still came back to win one later. We were there once. We can get there again.

Rivera is not going to let this Defense continue to struggle. He has too much pride to not get himself involved. Or at least he had better, or this could get ugly.

Norv...if he continues to build on the 2nd half of last week. We can get better there as well. And he better as well. Because if he doesn't, this could get ugly.

I expect both to get their heads out of their butts. Because of who they are. Not because they fear for their future.

Dude, Mr. Scot coaches o-line in peewee football....I think he knows better than Matsko and Rivera. Everyone knows that as long as you put your best o-lineman at Left Tackle, the other four positions don’t matter. I mean, when is the last time a RT got dominated so badly that it pretty much single-handedly lost us the game? I can’t think of any...certainly not any important games at least

It's after 2AM, and I just got to read this topic -- but, damn, guys!  This goes beyond debate.

When the OP starts a thread, and then posts 29 more times to defend it (yeah, count 'em, I did), that's some damn ego-driven stuff there.  And there wasn't much original content in those 29 follow-ups, either.

Mr. Scot, were you into the spirits?

Pleasant dreams, all.

Or maybe it's a combination of a topic that interests me and a day where I was bored and had time on my hands.

(Sheesh) :eyeroll:

Ever think that Clark had been sitting on the couch contemplating the end of his career when we called him up? The guy had no training camp time with us, much less mini camps or conditioning and has been working at the playbooks for what, almost a month now? And he has been playing well enough not to be supplanted.

Give the guy a chance to get his conditioning back up and gel with the rest of the squad. He is apparently doing better here than in his last gig, which may point to higher quality coaching making the difference.

Give him time. That LT position is the most demanding one on the line and he's faced some strong matchups. After five games then we can really tell whether he will stick or not. My impression now is that while he needs to improve, he is a step up from a "healthy" Matt Kalil already.

Amen to that!

Assuming he keeps the position once Kalil is deemed healthy enough. They appear to be taking it slow, but that doesn't guarantee he won't regain the starting job.

The thing about Clark being an older player: yeah, perhaps he can "play into shape". It's also possible that the wear and tear of the season starts to have an effect.

For my part, I think he was actually better in week one than he looks now.

I'm assuming Marshall Newhouse is just a warm body at this point, right?

If they didn't start Clark at right tackle it would probably be Silatolu, but I think Clark would have to be a major disaster for that to happen.

Of course there's also...Matt Kalil.

Throwing another name out as far as the right tackle spot: A lot of people thought we might take a look at Austin Howard early in the season. We didn't. Neither has anyone else to date.

Derek Newton and Menelik Watson are other names available, but I think both might have been dealing with injuries. Howard, as far as I know, is healthy.

Just my speculation from what little we know.....

Clark has 3 more games to show what he’s got. If he regresses any more(because he is nearing that level of unacceptable), then they probably give Kalil a “last chance” to show he gives a poo about football. Who knows? He could have had a “movie moment” where he hot wife told him to stop being a mangina and do your job. Anything is possible.

There was always the chance that Kalil was going to get his job back anyway.

From his own statements, I think he feels pretty confident he's getting his job back. Whether or not that confidence is warranted, I guess we'll see.
