As good as Cam has been, how well he would play with an offensive minded coach like Andy Reid who knows how to put up points in the modern NFL?   Sorry, but I can't help but feel bad for the guy.  Mahomes is putting up video game numbers, and he doesn't even have the running threat of Cam Newton at his disposal. Instaed, we have to be content with an offensive scheme and a head coach mindset whose best days are in the 90s/early 2000s.

Full disclosure: I am not in the Fire Rivera or coaches camp, just pointing out how things could have been different for Cam and the Panthers if we had someone like Andy Reid or Sean McVay.  But those coaches are not easy to find.    I guess I am just envious.

I know what you are saying.

I will say, there's a reason Andy Reid hasn't won it all.  Typically, those offenses slow down tremendously when the weather cools.

Well I don't see anyone stopping them this year, except for maybe the Rams in the SB.

I’ve said in other posts quite often Cam would thrive with other offensive coaches,..

that being said, every year someone comes out swinging with video game numbers, but their team doesn’t win in January,....the Rams burned,.the Chiefs are a team that do video game numbers repeatedly through the years,.. and they burn.

Atlanta was putting up video game numbers,..

And,... 28-3

I agree, but I believe this offense can flourish come November and December. I really hope that Norv has more sway to embrace a faster pace on offense. Also my biggest concern for the Rams and Chiefs is adversity. They are blowing out teams but what are they made of when things are not going their way? I see a good veteran QB knocking both of these teams out in the playoffs.

Doesn’t Kansas City have the last ranked defense?

Their defense sucks, but not sure it is the worst, or as bad as the numbers suggest.  When you're playing with a huge lead, you'll play softer coverage and allow teams to gain yards, etc.

This offense has been built around Can to take advantage of his strengths. I promise you Turner didn't run the read option until this year for Cam. The notion that Cam would do well in a WCO is pretty funny. He is in the right offense and he showed he can score points with it like he did yesterday. The old he is being held back is BS. There is no offense that has been more tailored for a QB than ours.

No way, you can't tell me he wouldn't thrive and be able to make the same reads and throws as Mahomes or even better.

And it's not even primarily the scheme .  It's the aggressive, go for the kill mentality and putting defenses under pressure instead of trying to manage the clock.   Look at the weapons at the WR position, and how much speed is at disposal.  Meanwhile, Ron is still barely getting Moore and Samuel involved.

I won't debate hypotheticals as there is no definitive answer, I will simply say that he is in the offense he helped create and he can change it anytime he wants. He can also audible out of any play so honestly if we aren't running his offense it is as much on him as anyone else.

Nah. The old Cam is a victim is getting old. Look at other quarterbacks with poor receivers historically like Brady. He has crap for wide receivers every year. Cam has to elevate everyone around him like he did in 2015. And again Ron has little to do with who plays when and wear. That would be Turner. Another huddle whine that just isn't true. I am glad Cam doesn't buy into your excuses and justfications. He just plays ball

    • Now now now, I wouldn't say there is no logic, but there's just not a lot of in-depth thought put into Barnwell's  "analysis." Now to be fair to him (and other national writers), pre-season team rankings are basically clickbait. And...Barnwell, himself, said that "there's a lot of projection here." He basically admits that he doesn't know how the hell things are going to turn out with our receiver group. He also said that "I find myself" more intrigued by Coker than Legette; that does not mean that he said that fans should be, or that Coker will even be better than Legette (regardless of ESPN's per-route-run stat). So, yeah, Barnwell said some things, but even he has to basically admit that he doesn't know how bad or good that our playmakers will be in 2025.  Overall, what Barnwell is basically thinking is that the Panthers have gotten worse at the offensive skill positions, and baked into that is that others have gotten better. That's the argument in July (meaning, please don't give this any more weight than it's due). I would personally be surprised (not shocked) if we end up worse than the Titans, Pats and Giants at least. Once you throw in the Bills, Giants, Jets, Steelers, and even the Chargers, I personally think there are several teams' skill groups that may end up ranked lower than ours by the end of 2025.  @kungfoodudeis one of my dudes, but like others he is over the tipping point. He's had enough. Seeing is believing. I will say this though: Barnwell's piece is less about logic than just good ol' opinion. And to be honest, he might as well be a Huddler throwing out sh¡t in the summer based upon nothing but good feels or bad feels.  Our offense as a whole (just like any other team's) is going to depend upon the play of the O-line and especially the QB. How you can even rank the skill positions without expressly baking those two things in the cake is beyond me. I would dare say that that's not even logical.
    • Football is not the professional sport where timidness and apprehension are justly rewarded.
    • Bryce Young had a super high floor definitely at least won't be a bust safe pick we allegedly had seen in some time.......and went on to have one of the worst rookie seasons of all time.  They are all lotto picks.  And that is especially true for whatever they will be day 1 in the NFL.  I don't think Tmac is a sure thing year 1.  It's not like we watched him do his thing in the SEC.  He was a PAC12 guy.  I'm sure it will take time
