Cam Newton didn’t want to throw Hail Mary before halftime

Her tone towards Cam since day one has been filled with doubt, back handed compliments and cynicism.  She rarely praises her hometown QB however she is quick to critisize.

Actually I think she's been very professional and has praised Cam in many of her articles

Do you read the Observer?

Panthers QB Cam Newton’s start reminiscent of MVP season, and in some ways even better

My guess is you are talking from you own bias.

What he's doing now is working incredibly well. I'm not concerned about the lack of deep throws at all. He's more efficient than ever and the offense is being run better than ever.

It's pretty much a non-issue for me. He may be a bit limited while he heals up, but you couldn't tell by the stats that matter.

I don't get it, do people watch the games? He puts as much torque on his shoulder with some of the fastballs he throws into tight windows as he would on deeper throws. He's intentionally taking a bit off his deep throws, because he's trying to throw it with timing and touch.

People need to think of the long ball sort of like the 3 point shot in basketball. Even the best shooters go through slumps, hot and cold streaks, and Cam is more JR Smith than Steph Curry when it comes to the deep shots. He got into this slump because he was coming off shoulder surgery, didn't really have a legitimate deep threat on the roster last year, and has primarily focused on the short to intermediate stuff since we drafted CMC and especially hired Norv.

To take away from all this that he's just no longer physically capable of making deep throws is just dumb. What you should be thinking is that our offense is looking this good, and Cam is playing this well, while he hasn't even heated up yet from three. It's like if LeBron James was averaging a triple double while going through a bit of a shooting slump. We're in for some magic y'all.

I hope you're right, but until we see him complete a deep throw to one of our speedy receivers (we do have deep targets), it will remain a concern.  It seems we're not even running go routes at all as part of the scheme.  It makes you wonder.
