While We're on the Topic of Unnecessary Roughness on QB Penalties

As I've said elsewhere, it wasn't the same...  Ben slid late, Reid was already committed, and it appeared inadvertently made contact with Ben above the shoulders, but it wasn't egregious or blatant enough to incur an ejection. IIRC, Kazee's hit on Cam was after Cam was already yards into his slide and his backside fully on the ground, yet, Kazee still launched himself head first into Cam, neck and above...  that being said, I'll give you that Reid's hit could be called a penalty, but i maintain it wasn't egregious or overly malicious.  Also, Cam took almost the exact same hit last week, looked at the ref and questioned why a call wasn't made and was shrugged off...  sadly, i see more "fans" here defending the officials and criticizing Reid than I see outrage over opposing players taking similar shots on Cam not getting penalized every week...  interesting.

Furthermore, those saying it was the same situation as Kazee's hit and Cam was given the same benefit, you would also be incorrect...  the unnecessary roughness penalty was negated on the Kazee hit because the refs called an offsetting penalty on Torrey Smith for running in and defending Cam.  Yet, Decastro and Pouncey ran in and essentially assualted Eric Reid, and nothing was called.  All Torrey did was grab/push Kazee away from Cam, IIRC.  Check out this hand placement from Pouncey on Reid:

Also, while many of you are so busy to rush and defend the league, OUR QB, once again, took an illegal helmet-to-helmet hit in the pocket tonight and it wasn't called.  Go back and look at TJ Watt's sack that caused the fumble.  He led with his helmet and hit Cam in the head.  No call made...  but please, continue trashing our own player as though what he did was any different than what Cam endures each and every week that goes uncalled.  Reid made a football play that happened to end up going high...  Guys purposely go for Cam's head and are rarely ever penalized...  and dont let our other players defend him, or that's a penalty too.  Sometimes it feels both helpless and pointless to watch our team and hope, that even if our coaching was worth a poo, we could ever overcome the NFL's slant against us and our QB (and now our safety).

I'm fine with questioning no calls on Cam. He is still ghe least protected QB in the NFL.

But, you can't cry about hits on Cam and then try to defend our players when they make illegal hits too. Reid hit a sliding QB in the head. That's all there is to it. The ejection is a judgement call, but he definitely loaded up and launched. Honestly, had that been Cam instead of Big Ben I would've wanted the play flagged and the player ejected so I can't cry about it when that was the outcome for us.

I honestly want our players to start taking hits at other QB's and then when the refs ask why,  our players ask them why they didnt call it when the other player hit cam.

and I hope someone says as much in a press conference, fug the NFL for not giving Cam the same protection as other QB's.

If they wont protect Cam, then fug everyone else. open season mofo's

This is pretty much my stance @LinvilleGorge.  Your stance is reasonable, but after watching our QB be freely headhunted for over 2 years straight now with impunity, i couldn't care less if we take shots to injure other QBs...  in fact, I want us to.  Is it right?  No.  But, is it just?  Yes...  until they start giving Cam the same protection, we may as well force their hand and give apples to apples comparisons to measure their consistency within the same game until they're forced to blatantly lie about why one QB is protected and the other isn't.  Watching people purposely try to knock Cam out in 2016 almost made me quit watching football altogether.

The NFL is still just protecting a handful of QB's with the new bs rules. Same old poo from the NFL and I would like Tepper to call them out.

Brady is the worst of them all with special protection that is why opposing players are afraid to even touch him without being penalized. All QB's should be under same rules and not a certain handful.

Same reason Rapestburger hasn't been touched. Their lines are allowed to go WWE every week to protect the NFLs money.

that almost made me quit watching too, not the kneeling or political BS that I hate, but that BS, that's my QB, our MVP. and when you let the reigning MVP get hit like that? tell me the NFL isnt racist as fug. I'm glad that we have an owner that seems to get it.

imo we should be eye for and eye until they call it fairly. You hit our QB with a cheap shot? we kill yours!(not litterally kill, just lay some wood ya know)

Reid wasn't trying hit the QB he was actually trying to roll himself over Ben and accidentally clipped him with his arm while trying to avoid the hit. That was obvious.

It's ok to call out injustice instead of trying to convince us everything is totally on the up and up, cup cakes and butterflies. They are selling entertainment. They didn't promise it would be fair.

The same people defending refs and the league probably think the WWE isn't rigged either. Forgive them, they didn't get the memo.

I totally get what you are saying. Cam doesn’t get the calls other QBs get. However, Watt’s helmet hit Cam right in the shoulder on the fumble sack. It looked bad from the angle showing Cam’s back, but you can see very clearly that Cam’s head is not hit with Watt’s helmet from other angles.

It was the shoulder and neck area though. Just saying.
