Last night was an expectation reset for the unrealistic

We began the season with a suspect O-line, then suffered injuries which made things worse. There was no LT to get this past offseason, and that's still our biggest weakness.

Bradberry is not a shutdown corner, and never has been. He is hot and cold. Adams is playing fairly well, but he is getting old. And, speaking of old, our legit edge rushers aren't getting any younger. A youthful talent infusion is essentially a must.

Our weaknesses bit us in the butt against the Steelers, and unless we just flat out win some offensive wars, we aren't good enough to overcome those weaknesses against elite teams.

If we invest in the defense and especially the O-line this off-season, we will be ready to seriously and legitimately contend for a championship on both sides of the ball next season.

To win it all this season, we're going to have to outscore people, or miraculously become the Incredible Hulk on defense as opposed to David Banner.

Anything can happen though. I am still hoping that we can go all the way, but not counting on it. I'm going to enjoy my team for the rest of the season in any event.

we have the most useless DT combination in the league and the biggest group of underachievers at LB this fair Republic has ever seen

on the plus side, we have the slowest combination of Safeties the game has seen in 30 years, excluding previous panther teams.

Not to mention a poo ton of money sunk into that position.

As ive said for awhile they need to seriously consider designating KK as a post June 1st cut.

Until this franchise realizes this league has gotten away from the old school mentality we have enough talent to make the playoffs but we’ll never do anything more.

You need playmakers on defense these days. Play for turnovers. It’s unrealistic to stop these high powered offenses on 3 straight plays and sometimes 4 if the coach is smart.

This is the NFL now.

Everyone needs to realize this. Ideally you sign a few playmakers on defense preferably in the secondary and have one pass rusher (we have none).

We need to sign Daryl Williams and let him play RT and slide Moton to LT (Kalil and KK are my 2 post June 1st cuts).

Funchess is gone (I’m not turning this isn’t a Funchess debate with you, I’m just saying this is how I see it). Moore runs the same route tree as Funchess so there’s no point in having both of them. I’m signing Golden Tate this offseason if I’m Carolina but we don’t value WR’s who can run the entire route tree who have good hands so I doubt that’ll happen. We’ll look for another WR who is arguably a better RB.

We’re not far off but this organization is hellbent on forcing a square peg into a round hole. Rivera and his staff want to do it his way and his way is so outdated. If not for Hurney, Donte Jackson isn’t in a Panthers uniform because he’s not Rivera’s typical corner. Rivera refuses to change and he’s a terrible talent evaluator. For a franchise you doesn’t sign the flashiest free agents we can afford a coach who struggles with talent evaluations.

I really hope Tepper is serious about this whole winning business and sees through Rivera. If not Tepper than Glick but we need change while we’re still in this window of ours that is shrinking fast.

I wonder who raised all these points back in September??

yeah, it’s sucks being right some times, but glad other people are finally noticing what is going on and needs to happen.

just enjoy the good regular season and any playoffs wins we might get. Next year(I’ve been saying since the offseason) will be a youth movement. Hopefully it works out.

About what? You just show up after losses with the same story.

hardly proving you’re right when we are still a playoff team and have consistently been one

We'll be lucky to make it and if we do we will go one and done like last year

    • The Bucs waived shilo sanders after he got ejected.
    • I'm just tired of ppl saying he's so accurate and then have to see recievers slow down to recieve the ball, ruining any chance at YAC
    • Some people will really look at stuff like this and say "no more excuses" but then make excuses to try and explain away the validity of big-time throws. 🙃   Back on topic though, as I mentioned in the other AT thread earlier, I hope that the team is still exploring the deal. If the Vikings want the Panthers to take on some of the salary, then it had better be at worst a 4th-round pick (though I imagine Dan angling for a 3rd). If they're willing to take on all of it, then maybe at worst a 5th. Tough pill to swallow, giving up a 4th for a 35yr old WR, but if MIN believes they can have similar success behind McCarthy then it could be a smart deal for them. Hell, if AT has any gas in the tank and gives them a 1yr sweetheart deal to close out at home, even better for Minnesota. Yea, Bryce loses his best and most reliable WR. Hunter Renfrow though isn't what I would call a huge step down though (if he's as advertised throughout camp), and it gives more reps to TMac + XL + Coker. This season is all about continued development and answering some of the looming questions (Is Bryce the guy? Is Evero the DC going fwd? How do the young WRs develop? How long does it take this defense to bounce back from being historically awful?).
