Panthers are 1-4 on the road this season. What other teams are that bad or worse on the road this year?

Miami Dolphins: 5-5 overall, 1-4 on the road.

New York Jets: 3-7 overall, 1-4 on the road.

Oakland Raiders: 2-8 overall, 1-4 on the road.

Cleveland Browns: 3-6-1 overall, 0-4 on the road.

Detroit Lions: 4-6 overall, 1-4 on the road.

Green Bay Packers: 4-5-1 overall, 0-5 on the road.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 3-7 overall, 1-5 on the road.

San Francisco 49ers: 2-8 overall, 0-5 on the road.

What do all these teams have in common? None of them are making the playoffs.

Well the main thing they have in common is poo defense and an inconsistent run game. Yeah, I think we're still relatively high in the run offense rankings, but a lot of that is Cam and trick plays involving WRs. Our base, block 'em up and grind it out, run offense is spotty at best, and worse on the road. Defense and run game is what's supposed to keep you afloat in road games, we don't have that this year.

This is actually terrifying, and it 100% goes back to our defensive problems.  The old saying "Defense travels" is showing itself to be true.

Teams giving up more than 250 points this year are 13 - 47 on the road.  Teams giving up less than 250 points are 51 - 46 - 2 on the road.

It's the pass rush. Pass rush can prop up an otherwise weak defense especially in a hostile road game environment. Panthers just don't have it this season. Last season the Panthers were killing it on the road early in the season. Started out 3-0 with a signature victory over the Patriots in New England, sacking Brady a few times. This season, without a miracle comeback, they would be 0-5 on the road. This team is not making the playoffs if they can't legit win a road game.

Agree. Would not be unhappy investing a first and third round pick in edge rushers next year.

Good news is this draft is LOADED on the defensive line.

Poe has lowkey been a disaster. I feared we were going to miss Star more than we originally believed and it's come true.

Other than defensive line all our picks should got to offensive line: LT, C, G in that order

Should defintely be a draft focused on the Oline and Dline. We have enough talent at the offensive skill positions and at LB/DB .

Even the Oline has been pretty decent. We mainly need a long term answer at LT , a replacement C for Khalil. We dont NEED a LG but would be nice to upgrade.

Dline, I think we need two young good DEs. Mario is good but not great and Peppers will probably retire. We have almost nothing at DE and I believe its the biggest hole on the team.

DT, I think we have enough talent but we're vastly under- performing. We just need to find a way to get the guys we have to play much better. Maybe replace Poe with a FA upgrade.

If we go  6-10 or 7-9 I honestly woundn't mind trading up for a premium pass rusher or the top LT in the draft.

won't have to trade up for a premium pass rusher if we go 6-10

Honestly if we lose this weekend that's what I'm hoping for at this point

Fire Rivera. Hire the next McVay. Cut ties with some of the vets that are clogging our cap space. Sign a serviceable LT for next season. Draft pass rush heavy.

It's relevant because we have pretty much zero shot of winning our division. Thus, any hope of winning a playoff game rests on us being able to win a road game.

If we cannot beat TB and CLE on the road than we cannot win a playoff game on the road.

We are well past due to see how this team performs with an creative offensive HC

    • Most EVs are in the 90+ e-MPG meaning some measurement house somewhere compares the EV to a similar ICE model and works out how much is costs to charge (on average) versus fill up as a point of comparison. Talking long term, in the hundreds of thousands of miles?  No clue.  Some early signs are that EV batteries maintain 80% charge over 400k miles.  So there's that.   The challenge and charm of an ICE vehicle is being able to park it under a tree, get your jack stands out and tinker with your engine.  There's just not that same level of complexity in an EV.  I saw someone estimate there are 200 or so moving parts in an EV, and 2000 in an ICE vehicle.  I'm not a part counter so I can't really speak to that. I think that the EV is more the future than any type of combustion engine.  Those will still be around in specific purposes, but for most people - an EV will be the superior option in terms of efficiency.  I say that as someone who loves stupid horsepower numbers out of turbo 4 bangers and inline 6s...  I am one of those tinkers when I can be. A bigger issue for EVs is going to be the ownership versus lease.  Right now, there are INSANE leases on EVs, which is great, but what do you have at the end of that lease?  Nada, maybe some equity if you're lucky.  Where as I'm almost done paying for my car, and plan to keep it until the wheels fall off (or my son wrecks it when he starts to drive).  Will EV makers do the smartphone thing and build in planned obsolesce?  Stop updating software?  I love the tech in EVs, and I think getting more cars and trucks off the road is a good thing.  But I am still just a little concerned.  Capitalism has gotten far too extractive.
