Skins and Lions

Both lost tonight and are mostly on par for how they've looked this year minus Smith on the Skins. My point being here is that those two games should have been easy wins with the talent we have.

Could clearly see it both games with us controlling the clock and scrimmage in good swaths. We also looked quite similar both games; just kind of out of it and going through the motions. No passion. Are we just a weird zonked out squad on the road??

I just really hope the players see the potential and get something going against SEA.

This is a make or f'n break on the season IMO if we want be capable of making a run.  Frustrating season but still time for success. Time to get some momentum or start looking for a new staff IMO and an entire defensive reboot minus Jackson and a select few.

Never should've lost those games. Never should've had to have miracles to pull off wins against the Eagles and Giants.

The Cowboys are the only team with a winning record that we've beat (and they just got above .500 tonight), meanwhile we've lost to two teams with losing records. The reality is that we're just not that good.

We're close though.

My hard truth:

The DL situation is killing us right now at the expense of letting Peppers chase records.

Who behind Peppers should be playing in his stead? The biggest single factor hurting us on the DL is Short being a near complete non-factor. You don't pay $18M a year for this type of play.

And almost lost to the bengals! Our record didn't indicate what kind of team we are.

Killing clock and time of possession is more important to our head coach than scoring points. That is the only reason we lost to the Lions and Skins. We have shown on multiple occasions that we can score fast and at our own will. One of the main reasons our points scored in the 3rd quarter is so fuging bad is because we almost always defer and get the ball after half time. Instead of coming out and trying to score Ron trots the boys out there with no sense of urgency. How many times have we come out in the 3rd and had the ball for what seems like almost the entire quarter only to end up punting from our opponents 45 yard line after two terrible negative plays or penalties that back us up 20 yards.

I think we are good, just poorly managed. Offense has seen improvement from last year for sure, but we're still losing games we absolutely should have won and the responsibility lies directly on the guy running the show who refuses to tighten up ship consistently. He pumps the brakes far more than he should.

Yep. Totally agreed. He's focused on the wrong part of the scoreboard. Only thing he needs to be focused on is the score and making sure that your number keeps growing at a faster rate than the other team's does.

This as well, didn't emphasize it but can't inore his lackluster play. Interior is not showing up minus Love.

On the outside, we just don't have the talent behind Peppers that can power or speed rush effectively.

    • They can get film of all the games? Every team? Wow! Who knew… Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.
    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
