Looking towards the draft.

Sitting at 6-7 and given our remaining schedule, we project to pick somewhere in the 10-18 range. What positions and players are you interested in?

For me, my early wish list guys would be Nick Bosa(DE), Clelin Ferrell(DE), Quinnen Williams(DE/DT), Jawaan Taylor(OT), Ed Oliver(DE/DT), Josh Allen(DE/OLB), Deandre Baker(CB), Jonah Williams(OT), Cody Ford(OG), Deionte Thompson(S), Zach Allen(DE). As I look at the class of prospects available, we should be able to get some help on the DL. The OL class looks a little weak but with most of our needs being on the interior(assuming we are able to resign Williams), we could be okay.

I also like the chances of us being able to pick up a better possession receiver to replace Funchess. Safety looks a little weak, so we might have to look at free agency.

I think we have to draft DE early.  Reason?  We don't have 2 years to develop a DE--we need a game-ready DE.  From your list, I see  Allen being there (Bosa and Ferrell will go 1 and 2, IMO)   M. Sweat is a real possibility---However, the chips could fall where we have to go DE in round 2--Jaylon Ferguson or Chase Winovich are solid choices.

I could easily see us going DE in the first two rounds if the picks fall that way. A lot will depend on who our GM and HC is, of course. At the bare minimum we need to get one starting DE out of this draft. Ferrell could fall into that 10-18 range. I don't THINK he ends up testing as an elite athlete in the workouts and maybe he gets a slight downgrade as a result(similar to Allen). For us, we just need a productive player to build on while we revamp that DL. We can do rental FA signings to fill in gaps but it is time to focus on getting that unit set up for the next decade.

I agree op, I think we can grab a upper echelon de in fa if and only if this staff makes it a priority. Once that is done, dt is a need, kk short problems he has in college are starting to show and idk if Poe is any good or if it’s just how abismal the play calling and d coordinator has been. Personally if for any reason bosa slides, I’m all for trading up and grabbing him, a tough cut or trade but I’d consider both for short, grab a couple of run stuffing dt, pair Reid with a true fs who excels in pass defense. And a couple of other moves in the secondary will shore up the defense

I really feel like we should go after Lawrence, Ansah or Clark in FA. We’ve tried and tried to addess DE in the draft for the last how many years. Still has not been able to.

I think that just depends on the money they command. It isn't a good idea to try and bid for a pass rusher in free agency. That is a tough market.

Lawrence, Ansah and Clark!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lawrence I would love to have but not at "highest paid DE in football" prices. Ansah hasn't been able to stay healthy over the past three seasons, so it is hard to justify spending top 10 money on a player with his injury history. Clark is another guy I would like to get but much like Lawrence, I don't want to mortgage the future. If we can get Lawrence or Clark at a reasonable contract, I would welcome them in a heartbeat. My concern is that they will command massive salaries in the free agency pool.

    • Dude you have no idea what you're talking about. Best place to live?  LMAO... that's your criteria...  Charlotte gets put all over those lists too... come on man... and those lists have zero to do with sports. I'm done after this bc I'm punching down intellectually here... The Panthers have been bad for 6 years now. You are obviously young and not overly educated based off the "dunks" you're putting out there that certainly are, so let me educate you today on the Panthers. The Panthers sold out for well over a decade straight. BOA has been as good an environment as there is when the team is good.  Fan support for the Panthers has been incredible when the team has even remotely reciprocated. The idea that Charlotte doesn't support the Panthers is utter BS. People in Raleigh have the biggest little brother syndrome of all time... Nobody outside of the Triangle cares about any of your "vaunted" sports team outside of Duke-UNC in basketball on a national scale. Sure, the Canes are great. But nationally, the WWE dwarfs the NHL in ratings. More people care about Cody Rhodes than Sebastian Aho... or anyone else in the NHL for that matter... I doubt less than 5% of anyone in this state outside of Raleigh even knows who that is... that's a knock on Aho who is a great player, it's just the NHL barely makes a ripple in the overall hierarchy of American sports. It's not in the same universe as the NFL or NBA no matter how badly you want to tell yourself otherwise. Raleigh is not a big-time sports city, no matter how much you want to scream into the abyss about it. Neither is Charlotte. But no one here is making such a nonsense argument... LOL it's good to be young and to be ignorant enough to be confidently wrong... WTF are you even on this board though since Charlotte is so beneath you? There is an actual discussion board on this very site for Raleigh sports since they are so superior...  Maybe it's bc I'm watching Idiocracy with my son, but your timing is perfect, my man... The dumbest among us have become the most confidence in their ignorance... God Bless America!!
    • You do know the biggest military base in the US is located just an hour from Raleigh in Fort Bragg right? Military families are family oriented. A hour drive to games is nothing compared to traveling 3 hours to Charlotte.   Cmon man there is nothing happening in Western Carolina other than Charlotte. I only go west for outdoor activities and some nature/mountain views.
    • Okay, who is coming. And how hard is it going to be to get tickets? I’m currently living in Germany a couple hours north of Munich. Happy to help facilitate a cheaper experience for help getting tickets lol.
