And let's ignore that the medical staff and trainers make the decisions about when injured players are ready to play.

And ultimately, the player can say no. There is nothing in the player contract mandating that they take the field even if the coach says to.

We go blind and say no matter what I am a panthers fan or you can be a fan that wants better. When you know sh$t stinks you can't continually deny that it doesn't and believe that just bc you ignore the facts that it will change cause it will not. The only way it doesn't smell bad is if you dont do it or be around it. Spray all the air freshener you want it just makes it smell worse. Eventually air freshener wears off and you still have sh$t.

Well, even Cam admitted he couldn't throw further than 30 yards but the MRI says he was fine. That is a pathetic level of dysfunction and lack of accountability.

Correct me if I am wrong, Cam did not (publicly) say that he could not throw the 30 years until after the season.

Yep but we were holding him out of practice 'as the new normal' so it's not like the team didnt know cam had a problem. Plus the whole play call selection kinda backs the idea the team was aware of it. Even opponents said they knew. It isnt rocket science.

panthers55, cam was 80%?    not even close. maybe 40%  rivera is an idiot.    he can't help it.  he was born stupid and then took a pounding on his head.   when he really needed to take a look at himself and his coaching, he chose his wife to do that with, not, you know, a better coach.

Only on the huddle, is it the HC's fault that the franchise QB plays after he's been cleared to play.

Y'all need to stop with the excuses already.

Stop

The

Ignorance

Why would an coach play a QB that can not throw 30yds downfield with a suspect line and deteriorating armor as long as he did? Does he have common sense? It worked for the 1st half of the season and quickly diminished after Steelers game. He could have handle it better. This is just laughable.

Amusing thread. :)

Rivera isn't perfect, but he isn't clueless.

My take until proven otherwise: He's a good coach still learning how to be great. Will he get there? I don't know.

On an off note, I believe Cam is a good QB, still learning to be great. Will he ever get there? I don't know.

Luke? Luke is just great.

Cam started out the game fairly well. As the game progressed he struggled more. Look at Cleveland for example, he marched us down the field the first series and was largely effective in the first half. But in the 4th quarter he struggled like missing a wide open receiver in the end zone for the lead. Normally that would have been an easy pitch and catch for Cam.

Buy for the rest of your discussion you apparently can ramble on with no reality basis so there is that....

Part of it is that 90% of throws by any quarterback rarely go 30 yards so in a game maybe a QB actually chucks it deep downfield 2 or 3 times a game. So that is not a reason not to play. Secondly Cam started games fairly strong and diminished the more he threw it. He was the best guy we had at that point and honestly do you pay someone 20 million bucks to ride the pines if MRIs say no damage and playing won't make it worse?  Will we have a better plan moving forward in case Cam can't stay healthy? I hope so. But given how he is Superman at times he is likely always going to be given every chance to succeed.

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
