Have we all seen WR D.K Metcalf?

So if D.K. Metcalf is the next Calvin Johnson does that make Greedy Williams the next Deion Sanders?

Greedy completely shut down Metcalf this year.

I mean Revis shut down Smitty one game does that make him any less a hall of famer? Don't use one game or match up to define a player.

I get that a lot of people think he is raw, the route tree and so on... but I think route running can be learned fairly easily look at Samuel.. he wasn’t even a wr now he is aruguably the route runner on the team. And look at the tools he has to work with..

As fast or faster tha. Samuel, oh you wanna press him? Good luck with that.. manhandled. How many corners run 4.31 to keep up with him anyway? Add in being 6’2 228 with a 40 in leap who’s out jumping him? He caught everything. Show good 50/50 ball skills.. yes I have a man crush and his name is Metcalf.

Remember when David Boston swole up to such an absurd size and was out of the league shortly thereafter?

Thought the same thing. Boston had bigtime run ins with coaches, steroid suspension and growth hormones in the end. I know he's a different person but worthy of concern.

What if we do? Hurney is a best player available guy,..

so all bets are off,..

He is but that is after the best players are off the board will he get best player available. The team that is next in line and wants him will want high compensation in picks from us to offer a trade just to get Metcalf which we do not really have.

We are a BPA at a position of need kind of team. Metcalf has a huge ceiling but isn't ready out of the gate. Especially in route running which is a necessary skill in our offense which isn't easy to learn. I suspect he would be a willing blocker and would be an intriguing pick as a tight end/wide receiver if you can wait to develop him. Or have a more simplified offense where he can play right away. But with our holes we can't afford a luxury pick, we need a contributor/ possible starter now, not two years from now.

I'm always up for a beast of a wide receiver, especially beastly suspects who confirm what everyone is thinking by essentially having an outstanding combine. If he carries his pure "outstandingness" over to and through private workouts, then he must be in consideration, regardless.

We needed that when we drafted Shaq in the first round and Vern butler in the first round 2.

Won't be surprised if Falcons grab him

???Why, Falcons have Jones, Ridley Sanu and Hooper, plus similar sized holes on the OLine and DLine as the Panthers.  Falcons are taking a lineman or, possibly a corner, can't imagine they'd do that.

Revis is also a 7X Pro Bowl and 4X First Team All-Pro corner, him shutting down Smitty isn't exactly a knock on Smitty.

Greedy absolutely shutdown a guy who apparently just won the underwear olympics and is now being touted as the next Calvin Johnson.

I watched Metcalf well before his 40 time and there is absolutely nothing that sticks out about his play that screams All-Pro receiver. He's a straight line runner with very little route skills. Not to mention his drop rate is subpar to say the least.

Hakeem Butler will be a better player that can be had in the later rounds.

    • As I've said numerous times the last few days, having Thielen on the field has literally 0% to do with my views on this (I've even said I think Renfrow is going to take a ton of snaps from Thielen anyways).  He has more value to this team without playing a single snap than a 2026 5th round draft pick does for the franchise.   His value is helping set up T-Mac, XL, Coker, and Horn for long term success by helping them learn how to be pros, how to go about their business, how to train, how to do all the little things that helped turn Thielen from a D2 undrafted player into a borderline Vikings legend.
    • He only wants to be traded because it's the Vikings who are calling. If he didn't want to be here, he could have retired, instead he took a pay raise to come back for another season.  I get it, it's an opportunity that he'd like to take, but we shouldn't cut off our nose to spite our face because he now wants to jump at this opportunity less than two weeks before the season starts. I'm not against trading him, I'm just against trading him for a return that doesn't help our team as much as having him on the roster would.  I'll put it this way, if a 5th is the best we can get for him from the Vikings and he's now dug in on not wanting to stay this year, I'm saying screw you and trading him to any of the other 30 teams besides the Vikings for the best offer we can get. He was perfectly happy here a week ago, if the Vikings soured him on that and then want to get him for peanuts, then screw them both.
    • Yes and no, he wants to go back and his wife most definitely wants to go back. He took a bunch of team mates to Minny and has worked out with JJ two offseasons in a row. It's where both him and his wife are from.    The money was basically a please come back and help Bryce. Pretty please...here's some more money.    Now he's agreed to a paycut to go back to the Vikings.
