owners are gonna lock out players in next contract negotiations

these player contracts are ruining the league

The only reason that the NFL exists is because of the players. It's just like anything else, the owners are trying to keep as much pie as they can at the expense of the players (in terms of money and bad terms). The NBA is a better run league from a player-owner contractual perspective.

oh most certainly can fine a player for a whole bunch of reasons. Teams have a conduct policy and the league has one. Either one can result in fines. Miss camp, fine. keep missing. can loose game checks..ext. Force his ass to play or retire.

But as long as he follows the letter of the law, he is Gucci!

You guys act like he is in the wrong here. There is no black and white here (pun not intended). They pissed him off, so he wants out!  He has every right to use whatever strategy he likes to get out.

Calling B.S. here.

Brown signed a contract - a VERY lucrative contract - for 4 years and 68M, with a $19M signing bonus in 2017. So, what has changed since 2017? New coach? Nope. New GM? Nope. How about new quarterback? Nada.

So, nothing has changed, really in the entire time Brown has been with the Steelers. He was happy enough with them to sign the new deal in 2017. He didn't have to, but he did.

Now, it's two years later and he wants out? The time for him to call for that was before he signed the new deal. Sucks that he doesn't like it now, but that IS his signature on the bottom line, right?

If you would prefer a league that is run by the players, that's your choice, but if one of those players is someone like Brown, they aren't going to be successful for very long.

You can call BS all you like. Everyone who is paying attention knows that NFL players are getting screwed on their money and terms compared to the other leagues.

Brown hasn't done anything illegal. He is playing his only card to get out of a situation that he no longer wants to be in. The teams do whatever the hell they want to do all the time, and they have a lot of leverage to "screw" players over. Don't hate the player, hate the "game!"

You don't know all of the reasons why Brown wants out, but you do know that he felt mistreated. Players and teams "fall out of love" continually. This is nothing new.

AB instagram post yesterday made it clear he didn't want to be there. Bills were never a option for AB.

Thats great, but ultimately it's not up to him. This would have been the perfect deserving shitstorm for AB. He wants to be in Miami. If he cared about winning, he'd wanna go to Indy.

He really has very little. Sure, he can pull the same trick if the Steelers try to trade him somewhere he doesn't want to go, but at the end of the day, he doesn't play a down of football ever again, unless the Steelers say he does.

There's a lot of parallel to the Barry Sanders situation with the Lions years ago. How'd that work out for Barry?

And apparently AB is fine with that. AB has more power than you or most people think, which is evident by Buffalo nixing the deal.

It worked out wonderful for Barry. He’s a hall of famer, no current signs of CTE, ok financially.

Not that I totally agree or disagree with your implication, but maybe he cares about more than "winning." Perceived fit and quality of life do stand for something.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
