Former Alabama OL Brandon Greene of the AAF Birmingham Iron expected to sign with Carolina Panthers today

— Aaron Wilson (@AaronWilson_NFL) April 5, 2019

Center Parker Collins and guard Kitt O'Brien signed one-year contracts with Carolina three days after the AAF suspended operations near the end of its first season. Collins and O’Brien aren’t strangers to NFL locker rooms.

Collins, an Appalachian State product, went undrafted in 2017 but spent the offseason with the Jaguars and Rams and part of the 2018 offseason with the Steelers. The 6-foot-2, 300-pounder was Appalachian State’s starting center in 2016 after starting at guard in 2014 and ’15. He was on the injured list for the AAF’s Atlanta Legends after suffering an ankle sprain a couple of weeks ago.

"It's really a dream come true," Parker said. "I'm so thankful and blessed that the Panthers took a chance on me."

O’Brien spent parts of the 2015 and ’16 seasons on the Colts practice squad and part of the 2017 offseason with the Browns. The 6-foot-5, 325-pounder, a three-year starter at Ball State, went undrafted in 2013 and played two seasons in the Arena Football League. He’s coming off a stint with the AAF’s Birmingham Iron.

Great, camp bodies who have some 8 more games of experience than they used to have.

The value of a developmental league is that it gives QBs and OL some actual game experience against an aggressive D.  Those are two of the more difficult positions to develop.

I'm all for it.  I just hate it fell apart.  Hopefully these guys can push some other players to be better.

Give me authority to edit SpecialJuans posts and I'll put an an end to the clickbait

Yep, we need to start just making so-called double posts that include the players' names in the title. The click-bait titles are so unnecessary and do a disservice to all of us.

    • Any idea what happened to him at LSU? im reading that he was considered a 1st round pick in 2023, had an off 2024 season with only 4 sacks but was also on a horrible FSU team then went to LSU where he was supposed to be on an aggressive defense that should have given him a lot of sacks but he only ended up with one….   was he injured? Did the top SEC competition expose him? What happened? Cause this guy was considered a top prospect .
    • Sometimes its fun to read the threads/posts.  The panthers could literally hire a groundskeeper and we'd have a thread "improving the field for no other reason to prop up Bryce Young".  Apparently no move is ever done to actually make the team better.  All a conspiracy to just focus on Bryce Young. Or suddenly daydreaming and reminiscing about Sam Darnold when he was hated more than Bryce Young.  Its really fun to do a message board search about Darnold during that time period.   Or thinking there is just a tree that grows QB, and you can just easily go up and pluck one.
    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
