Casserly thinks Panthers Lion Trade 1st

Highly highly doubt marty trades up in the first unless he feels there is a dynamic talent there. This team has too many holes to be giving up draft picks, Hurney knows that he needs as many shots as he can get. Further, Hurney is hyper aware of how terrible his previous trade ups were. See: everrette brown, armanti edwards and the worst attempted trade of all time when he almost gave up the future number one pick for jimmy clausen

Wouldn't have to trade up if we hadn't won a completely meaningless game at the end of the year.

Or ya know, we could've just lost that N.O. game and be sitting at #9. A move to jump up the board would juat rub that in our noses.

Did you know if we never win another game for the rest of our franchise, we could pick #1 every draft? Wouldn’t that be amazing......if only...

What kind of logic is this lol.... nobody is saying lose just to lose and pick the first pick. people are saying if there is no chance at the playoffs or bettering your franchise then you should be in prepare for the next season mode. yes losing that game would have been better for the panthers...some scrub victory where they played there backups so you can talk poo. logic against this is ridiculous..

Well, we didn't lose. Pros play to win, and that's the way it should be.

Y'all like to talk about analytics so much, let's look at them for this. When we have played to win with less then 3% chance to make the playoffs, our franchise QB has had an injury that has derailed our past 2 seasons, now this year dropping us from pick 8 to 16. But by all means, let's play to win. The Packers shut down Aaron freaking Rodgers when they had less then a 10% chance. But Ron has to make sure he pads that win total so he doesn't get fired.

This isn't about analytics.

Professionals don't play to lose from the coaches to especially the players. It's just not what they do in any facet of reality, regardless of the delusions of fans.

It's one thing to sit your player down when you are trying to preserve their health or trying to rest them for the postseason, but it's an entirely different ball of wax to sit them down simply because you are purposefully trying to lose. One is respectful of the player and the game, and one is disrespectful to the player and the game. The whole notion is absurd. Every player, regardless of whether they are a starter or backup (or backup to the backup), on the team is going to play to win.

I agree with you 100% man. I don't blame the players AT ALL for trying their best to beat a division rival to end the season on a high note.

It's just stupidly frustrating though that Rivera didn't make changes that positively impacted the way the team performed until so late in the year that it didn't matter anymore. Like, we all went into that game going "At least we'll get a top 10 pick out of this" and then Rivera decided he finally understood what it took to make the team competent again...

Like I said, frustrating.
