Panther's sign Chris Hogan WR

Hogan is a day 1 starter. We would have 4 we can swap out with each other for different looks. I expect Moore Samuel Wright and Hogan to be swapped out a lot.

Torrey is a goner,.. he will probably be number 5 unless someone gets hurt. It’s up to him if he wants to hang around for insurance or get released.

At his age, I might would get released and go to a team that needs a 3rd or 4td receiver and get on the field. That’s the only way to prove his way back to more. Sitting out as inactivated number 5 every week is a waste.

Drafting a WR doesn't seem like a day 3 need anymore, so team can let the board come to them.  Needed someone to replicated the skills that left the WR corp when Funchess left.  Hogan is now the "possession" receiver who runs good routes and can help in the red zone.  He also can be used as a vertical threat.  He gets more separation than Funchess but is worse in contested catch situations.  A lot cheaper though which is key. Contract details will be key.

Moore / Samuel / Wright / Smith / Hogan / Ross

IMO this allows us to have a lot of flexibility, however I think we still see a WR picked up in the latter rounds, Hogan makes up for Torrey's veteran presence in the event we move on from him and the available cap space he represents.

Ross, is 28/29 if memory serves and isn't anymore a long term answer than a day three pick. But a pick with more upside could still replace him if a guy we like is there.

As it stands right now we have four locks - Moore / Samuel / Wright / Hogan -- Smith and Ross could both or see one of themselves replaced by a draft pick.

Fir today though if we carried this six into the regular season we'd have a pretty solid rotation / depth.

Ya'll joking, but Hogan might be the best WR on the team right now. Moore and Samuel have a higher ceiling, in my opinion. But right now, this guy could be the #1.

You ain't kidding. ( 4th, 5th option, nothing to see here) my arse. Brady throws all over the field+ Gronk. Those are solid numbers up there. He'd have much bigger numbers if he wasn't in that wide open offense. Swear some of these huddlers think our receiving corps matches up with the Falcons. Yes we have potential but come on. Reality people.

Yes, we  are "a bunch of stupid".  We look  to  you for guidance and intellect because we had no idea  that we  needed another receiver.  Can you tell us  about this year's  corn  harvest?  Will it be bountiful?

Not a need,  but it could be  an option.  Returner/WR?  The farther Smith drops on  the depth chart, the more glaring his salary becomes.

Lol. Not to mention the argument was draft capital, not picking up a cheap free agent probably to save money over a more expensive one.

hope it works out.  But I don't really have lots of faith in NE WRs.

Generally NE WRs look and perform their best in NE.

But he probably is a good add regardless.  We have some really talented WRs.  He is going to bring a lot to the locker room and practice.  That often gets overlooked.

Hope we didn’t pay much. He is JAG,- little better than Torrey but I wouldn’t play him over Wright. From what I recall, routes are okay, hands are sub-par, ball skills are atrocious. Damn, sounds like a Funchess write-up.

Doesn’t hurt to sign him as a #4 as long as we didn’t pay big money- which I doubt we did at this point. I certainly like it better than Torrey getting $5 mil or Funchess getting $10.

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
