So, we have the perfect opportunity (easy path to start) and we can’t get the top UDFA safeties to consider us. It should be a drop kick to get any safety we want.

Yep that's what I was thinking. As a UDFA DB I would be trying to come here. Best chance to make a roster.

Putting on the homer hat, we should take a look at both Malik Carney (3-4 OLB) and Anthony Ratliff-Williams (WR). Pretty sure we visited with AR-F.

There is talk Anthony Ratliff-Williams is going to the Titans, but not confirmed.

According to the link on the previous page we just signed the #22 available safety and the #30 available RB. Not overall, that’s their position ranking among UDFAs. Looks like we are really working hard to get people who might contribute.

Are you saying the #22 ranked safety among the UNDRAFTED players? If so, WTF.

Carney went to the Lions

ARW is going to the Titans according to some Tweets, but no verified people has signed anything.

One, we hate safeties so why bother?

Two, our coach will play aged, hobbled vets over even over actual good players.

Despite the "opportunity" on paper, yeah I'd be looking elsewhere as a UDFA S.

    • Kalkbrenner and Sion James received regular contracts and not two ways, so the Hornets have some work to do to cut the roster size down.
    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
