Curtis Samuel WR1 this year?

None of it matters until we see how Cam does in passing.

And chances are good, still, that CMC will be our leading receiver.

I'm really hoping for that best case scenario of healthy Cam, CMC continuing his arc, and both DJ and Samuel arriving on the scene for an entire season, along with Olsen finding the fountain of youth and our O-line working out. And let's have our defense play like a Panthers defense again, too.

Is it too much to ask?

I'd actually like to see about 10 touches per game - same with DJ.

CMC should get 20-25.

DJ - 10

Samuel - 10

and the last 15-20 touches between Cam, backup RB, TEs and slots.

10 per game? That's HIGHLY unrealistic. Michael Thomas led the NFL in catches last year with 125 and he was 9 ahead of 2nd place. There were only 8 WRs last year with 100+ catches.

Yeah, but he missed preseason and a bunch of the early part of the season due to hamstring issues.  He was hurt most of his rookie year.

You asked if he missed his entire rookie year though.

I didn't.   Bull123 did. I was just noting that he did not play the full season until week 10.  He missed like the first 5 games, then he didn't play much, didn't play well, and then was out the rest of the season.  He's rookie year was a net loss.  That's why people  said last season was his true rookie year.

He did not miss the first 5 games. He missed most of training camp which is why the team brought him along slowly. They were not playing him the first half of his rookie season. I have to disagree in saying he didn't play well. It was the lack of time on the field. When they finally gave him a chance he was coming along fine. The game he was injured in was his best game. He was catching everything his way.

Yes, he missed most of training camp and didn't play much.  When he did there was a headline somewhere about his mistakes.

He was injured because he dropped the ball in endzone.  Had he caught it, the safety wouldn't have dived and rolled on his ankle.

Don't get me wrong, I want Samuel to succeed, but his rookie season was a disaster.  He had more injuries and screw ups than flash.

Last season was night and day better.  Hopefully this season too.  Defending his rookie season though, is just a waste of time.

Show me a player who didn't make mistakes during their rookie season. It's not about defending his rookie season but to say it was a wash is way off-base. Not every player is going to hit the ground running especially receivers. Some players need time to learn the NFL game and develop. So far he is developing into a damn good receiver.

Whatever.  In the little time he played, he cost us one game and almost cost us another.  He hurt more than he helped then.    Not sure why you think his rookie season was like any other.  CMC showed what a good rookie season looks like.

I do agree that he can/will be a damn good receiver though and last year he showed that.  Here's to the coming season.

I'm hoping Samuel really shines this year after finishing strong last season.  I bought his jersey during the preseason last year.  Why?  Let's say I've got personal motivational investment in him namely because I correctly predicted us drafting him in the second round of '17 when not a whole lot of people even had him on their radar for the Panthers, especially after taking CMC in the first round.  Sounds kinda corny, I know,  but since then I've rooting for Curtis and hope he has one heck of a 2019 season.
