Over Elliott by the end of camp?  Elder has the edge of Elliott by knowing this defense, but I suspect that advantage won't last much longer.

Like I said, it’s a heck of a competition. Elliott had one hell of day.

Ron Rivera says Luke Kuechly never had to enter the concussion protocol; repeats staff has just been cautious and eased him back into the workload ever since a pileup last week.

  1. Rivera: “Biggest competition right now is at nickel. We’re trying to find an answer.”

@ellis I was just wondering are you seeing his routes I agree he’s a beast but his route running improved where are you getting that just wondering.

Just field level observation. Using subtleties with his hands to get separation on his routes. The footwork is better on his breaks. Again, just an observation.

Yep, since Boston was added at FS the only vulnerable spot in this defense is at nickle now.  I still would like to see Cockrell on the outside and move Jackson to nickel.  He's shifty and fast enough to keep up with the greased lightening slot guys.

Moore relied on a lot of smoke and mirrors last year. And that’s not a shot at him. It was the nature of the offense that helped him develop. He’s learning more of the route tree this year.  I’m seeing him down field a whole lot more on the intermediate to deep stuff.

Eh, I would say we are still vulnerable at both safety spots but nickel is by far our weakest spot on paper. Reid and Boston are still vulnerable.

If your game plans don't feature a lot of smoke and mirrors then your coaches aren't doing their jobs.

Well of course. This offense is one of the leading smoke and mirrors offenses out there. Just saying that more is looking more conventional this year. You can still do the other stuff with 12. He’s an absolutely invaluable peace.

Okay, I should have stipulated most vulnerable at nickle.  While Reid and Boston are upgrades over what we've had back there most recently, both are over-hyped for being better than average.  It's impossible to field eleven Pro Bowlers on either side of the ball though so solidify what you can the best you can.
