Panthers' camp observations as the Wofford College portion ends: 1. Coach Ron Rivera wouldn't name a camp MVP, so I will. Curtis Samuel. The third-year wide receiver caught a deep pass almost every practice, including Wednesday's joint session against Buffalo; 2. QB Cam Newton only talked to the media once in three weeks, but he had a solid camp on the field. Other than a few days off he had no limitations throwing and began developing solid chemistry with his receivers and line; Looks like he'll be ready for the opener; 3. First-round pick Brian Burns was held out of drills after suffering a minor ankle injury on Tuesday, but the Panthers escaped camp with no major injuries -- always a plus. 4. LB Luke Kuechly had a scare early in camp with what appeared to be a head injury, but he finished strong. He had a PBU early on Wednesday and tipped a pass later; 5. If this truly is the last time the Panthers hold training camp at Wofford College, where they have been for 25 years, the school and city of Spartanburg should be applauded for outstanding support.

GVR actually scares the piss out of me.  People dont and didnt mention him because the overshadowing issues at LT.  But GVR graded out as one of the worst starting interior OL lastbyear in the league.  Goes back to me wishing we just kept Moton and Williams at OT and drafted Risner at LG in the 2nd

That might have been better for this year, but that’d still leave us without an LT of the future...so it’s a little short-sighted. Whether Little will pan out is TBD, but clearly he was drafted to be that guy.

Not to be greedy, but we are playing to be short sided with these moves.  We're making win now moves.  And with some aging core and a QB with injury history i see why.

We had a OT who had proven (preseason+regular season vs a all-pro or not).  We couldve solidified the OL all the way across.  Now we have Williams at LT, who some critisized him on here because they thought he was overrated at RT.  And a OG who was undrafted, on his 5th team (including a CFL team) and graded out as one of the worst starting interior OL in the league last year.

We couldve stayed (shorted sighted) and strengthened the OL all the way across with no holes just for this year then draft one in the first next year (by the way next years OT class is projected to be even stronger than this year)

Instead we still have a weakness at LG, and drafted a LT instesd that may not even start and need growing until 2020.

  Very well stated. Especially the part about next years LT class being much better and deeper. Since we drafted a guy who needs some time, what would the difference have been. There were many options besides drafting a project LT and trading premium picks to do it.

Yeah but by the time we go to the podium for the first time at pick 32, the elite left tackles will have been long gone. 

Right or wrong, the Panthers felt like Little was a first round talent at one of the most premium positions in football that was a legitimate team need. Generally speaking, when you're deciding between drafting a comparable guard or tackle, you pick the tackle. It's a lot easier to find a quality guard later in the draft. Heck Daley may turn into one, although he seems pretty raw right now.
