The Lions and Browns haven't had a coach for anywhere near as long as we've given Rivera for 20+ years, the Browns especially. Rivera has had more than enough time. Any coach worth a damn would completely understand why we fired this loser.

I agree though that there is absolutely no way you can give him a big QB money contract right now. That would cripple the franchise for several years.

I hate to say this but remember what happened a few years ago when we had another quarterback that looked pretty clearly like he was done?

I really don't think he'd be dumb enough to do that again but there's this little voice in the back of my mind...

A guy who fires people that were left over from the prior regime isn't going to look reactionary.

Week in and week out, wasted timeouts, missed calls on challenges, field position flipped by taking risks without concern for defensive field time. Last night the LT was left alone all night without help. Pocket passer Cam Newton Plan, (grade-F). I am optimistic that we will 1-3 quarters of football, but the fourth quarter with our team over the past three seasons has been erratic and we find unique avenues in which to lose games. Norv Turner was called in to do what? 

I still love the TEAM, just difficult to watch. Hopeful for next week to turn in a WIN.

14 games left. It’s important to see them all through. But bad teams tend to invent new ways to lose each week. We’ll see how it works out, I still have a lot of optimism about many of the pieces on this team. Just not sure if anyone knows to best build this particular puzzle. 

But I’ll say it again, the day Buffalo came to town to scrimmage Carolina in Spartanburg is the day I started to temper my expectations. Receivers suddenly weren’t open. OL’s were suddenly being forklifted. We’ve been very realistic with our reporting since.

There’s a lot of good and bad to unpack from these past two games, and I’ll have a full report for you tomorrow at onepantherplace.com on what Ross and I saw in person tonight. But it’s pretty self-explanatory: your quarterback isn’t throwing with accuracy, your left tackle can’t protect, your wideouts aren’t separating, and you can’t run the ball: you don’t win. 

Defenses are playing single high safety. They don’t respect Cam’s arm or the wideouts right now. They can all change with a good week of practice and a big day in Arizona next week. We’ll see if they’re up to the challenge.
