Cam is clearly still hurt.

I don't think you can chalk this up to a bad ankle but i hope that's all it is for the sake of this season

If it is his ankle than he needs to get off it until it is 100%.

If he is that hurt to where he can't run a QB sneak for 6 inches he needs to sit down.

At this point I will have to say a 100% Allen is better than an injured Cam.

I honestly think he gets the first down with a qb sneak but for some reason ron wanted the TD...even with a tweaked ankle he makes it 95% of the time.

Cam more than anyone else chose the way he has played throughout his career. Why is anyone surprised at the outcome?

The coaches could have changed that.

Instead, they reinforced it, and you can make a pretty good argument that they exploited it.

I want to believe that Newton can find himself / return to form / get back to being who he is / any phrase denoting comeback you want to use. I want to believe that more than Fox Mulder believes in UFOs.

Here's the problem...

One, what my eyes are telling me doesn't justify that idea.

But more to the point, how does he do that behind an offensive line that isn't protecting him worth a damn?

Again, ugh!

Shouldn’t cam take blame for lack of initiative? If I’m a running QB who no one can bring down easily and It’s 4th and short I’m telling the coach to let me run it. The ankle is not an issue. Cam just doesn’t have the killer instinct that other QBs possess.

Last week we wasted a TO and a delay of game because he couldn’t take initiative in running his own play that ultimately cost us 3 points. The difference. His lack of initiative cost us the game tonight as well.

This has got to end at some point.

Cam may rebound but it won’t be in Carolina.

Yeah he could very well be one of those quarterbacks who winds up an "lol that guy?  he's washed up he's done" story but then goes to another team and staff and winds up having a productive couple of years like Vick in Philadelphia or Favre in Minnesota.

Honestly, after last night, I think it's obvious that Cam doesn't want to play the game anymore. His body language in and out of the huddles, on the sidelines, even in the pressers is a guy just there to get the pay checks and to not get hurt. The game isn't his big love anymore, there are so many things higher on his list of priorities now and all of them are weighing heavily against getting hurt again or even just making the superhuman efforts that made him SuperCam before.

That fourth and one and that last touchdown attempts told the whole story. Cam would have never missed that fourth down conversion before -- he wasn't going to be dragged down in the flat like that. And on that last touchdown, there would have never been a question of who would carry it over the goal line.

But Cam has no threat to be a runner anymore and isn't even a threat to move around in the pocket. He isn't controlling the tempo of the game, he's just trying to get through it. And his threat to run at any moment did more to open up those long strikes than anything one of his receivers did. And then, he just has no fire, no fire at all, on top of this.

I'm sorry, but maybe it is time for him to hang up the cleats and make the most of his brand. The fashion world awaits.

I go back and watch that NFCCG and ask myself, “Where is THAT Cam Newton?” And the answer is, he’s not there anymore. The Super Bowl headhunting and more of the same the next year by the Denver fuging Broncos ruined him. He’s a broken weapon, and not one that can be repaired. There is zero chance of this team winning a SB without a legitimate franchise QB, and sadly, Cam is no longer in that discussion.

Good news is, I don't think it's his shoulder.  I suspect it's his foot...

That 4th down confirmed it for me, if there was any doubt.  It's 4th and short, and not only do we not even run Cam in the play, but we motion him out, completely removing him as a threat.  Two years ago, we were almost automatic in 4th and short, all because of Cam, usually via sneak or over the top.  And now we don't even use him.  Let him sit till healthy, because this lame duck staff is gone anyway.

I dont see how any one cam come to the conclusion his shoulder isn't still hurt. Maybe it isn't physically hurting him as he throws but, it clearly has sapped away the talent that was there that allowed his arm and legs to be one of the most dangerous threats in the NFL. Even on his worst days cam was more effective as a thrower than this...

Now the foot thing might be a completely separate issue. That's probably worse than we assume at this point. But I could live with that if he wasnt skipping balls in the dirt the whole game or missing on every throw and me actually being surprised when he actually connects. How is the shoulder not hurt?
