Interesting 49ers stat (Good news for Carolina)

Thought I noticed Goff had less than 50 yards passing in the first half against them. That’s  kinda good on defense.  Playing from behind is a real possibility here and that will not be good.  If Kyle wins this game it will be ultra impressive.  Everyone, including me will be screaming for Cam if he is harrassed into being terrible.

Like some coach said..they make you play bad football.  I think that was Gruden.  Can’t have that.

So true...can’t let a beat down derail us like Pittsburgh though.  I am confident but If Allen turns it over a lot that could hurt his roll considerably

That defense is legit and young and eating right now.  Can’t have turnovers or we are fugged

i don't know if he's really built to air it out and put up tons of points in a shootout, but if the defense controls the tempo of the game and keeps giving us good field position kyle allen can capitalize, which is exactly what he needs to do. 5-2 sounds real good

Totally agree...just like the Super Bowl vs the Broncs.  We can’t let their defense win this game with takeaways.  Need to win that battle.  Conservative, ball control would be my focus.  Cam would fuggin kill in a game like this...he was amazing in these type games.

Well...when he wasn’t getting head shots or facing Von.

I will stop after this post...short yardage red zone...I am starting to miss Cam.  Big time leadership and the biggest personality in the NFL...I miss Cam.  Fuggin dominating dual threat QB the likes of which this league hasn’t seen...I miss Cam.  I miss Cam Newton!

The 49ers running game is what scares me. We have obviously sacrificed defending the run in favor of focusing on stopping the pass which I do believe is the correct strategy in this NFL, but the Shanahan running game is no joke, they’ve got 2 or 3 RBs who can fly and they’ve have been great so far this year. Hopefully Ron has a good plan for slowing it down but I don’t think we ever did a great job stopping it while Shanahan was in Atlanta.

Hopefully Shaq can shadow the runningbacks.

I feel pretty confident that we won’t get blown off the field like we did at Pittsburgh but if I had to put any amount of money down it would be on the 49ers. I just really don’t like the matchup for us against them. Don’t care if it’s Allen or 100% Cam.

Eh, I don’t really think it’s a matter of shadowing. It’s the zone running game. The DL will really have to maintain gap discipline and it’s going to be on Luke and Shaq to not over pursue and give up big cut back lanes which Luke has been known to do occasionally.

The DL loses their gaps and the LBs overpursue on an outside zone and we’ve got Coleman or Breida with a cut back going into a 1v1 on Eric Reid or Tre Boston and I really don’t like their chances. That’s a house call 90% of the time.

Thats what scares me and it only needs to happen once to completely change the game.

Keep in mind that we often use 4 or even 5 linemen when facing great running teams. We just struggle if a team uses 3 or 4 receiver sets and still have a good back that can run the ball. We end up in a nickel or even dime look and get gashed in the run game to teams that can spread you out and still run it well. The only negative to our traditional 4-3, which we run quite a bit,  is that we might  have linebackers chasing slot receivers or wide receivers. Or heaven forbid a tight end in the seam.  I think our defense matches up pretty well against their offense. I don't know how our offense will match up against their defense.

Completely agree and Tevin Coleman has always had our number. Honestly, he scares me more than Kamara or Freeman ever has.
