I agree!! But I think I read somewhere that McCoy has been a mentor to him!! Hopefully he has turned over a new leaf!!

Can we resign big Vern but put a clause in his contract that he only gets his roster and offseason bonuses if he lives in McCoy’s basement, waxes his car and paints his fence?

Said before that I think Butler expected to be a starter when he was drafted then got pissed off and acted childish when we retained Short and he was stuck as a backup.

Maybe now that he's a full-time starter he's finally going to give it his best.

If true I distrust that attitude. A guy dumb enough to nearly tank his whole pro career over sulking cause he’s not starting in front of a pro bowler is a guy I’m skeptical about his attitude vs team mentality.

Me too.

Obviously, the right thing to do if you're a backup and want to be a starter is to give it your everything. Pouting like a child trying to get your way is dumb.

Technically though, hes now gotten his way, so...

I disagree.  But lets pretend they are.

But what big safety trade should be make?  What safeties are on the trade block that would not only be noticeably better than what we have but would be worth the trade?

This is a thing I see people do all the time.

”Trade for a *blank* we really need to upgrade!” ...when there is no obvious candidate out there or they will then proceed to suggest a trade that no gm would be on the other end of.

”Give the Rams a 3rd rounder for their Pro Bowler in his prime.”

None ...but that doesn't change the fact it is a glaring need...

One thing everyone needs to understand about Vernon Butler is, he came into the NFL very young and raw. He was 21 years old when he got drafted and is only 25 now. Kawaan Short was 24 his rookie year, and he’s 30 years old now and exiting the prime of his career. Vernon is just entering his prime. I’m not surprised the light bulb finally came on for him. He’s getting a lot more playing time and the scheme is a better fit for him.
