Reading this and I'm getting the exact opposite from what the people who want him gone are saying. This says the opposite of a good bye. It sounds like he's telling you he loves Charlotte and the Panthers then pause. I WILL WORK HARDER AND ALL THAT FOR YOU GUYS@THE PANTHERS. AND FOR KYLE ALLEN. But if you listen to Scot and the others.. sounds like he's saying goodbye lol lol lol lol.

It sounds nothing like goodbye

Unless "you guys" refers to his fans and not Panther fans.

(groups that are not mutually exclusive, by the way)

Saying that he will continue to support the Panthers does have kind of an externalized ring to it as well.

Cary's right. It does overall sound like a goodbye.

He’s clearly addressing Charlotte and the Panthers throughout the whole message.

Dude wants another contract.  Contract is the issue.  Not Cam.

Maybe Hurney can work up something with incentives and play requirements that can protect us if he doesn’t ever get healthy.

Don’t want to see him in another uniform.

At least Dave is gone.   Hopefully Hurney and Cam’s team can work out something that protects everyone

Man I know you love Cam but this is wrong.  He cant get healthy.  It sickens me but the guy is done and should probably just retire.

Also, would love to see him coaching the QBs in some capacity...his personality is infectious

Hoping that Kyle Allen succeeds doesn't demean Cam Newton in any way.

Youre purposely ignoring all the Cam bashing after the Arizona game in this argument.  Yes, hoping KA succeeds I’m doesn’t demean Cam in anyway but a lot of the fans really gunning for KA we’re ready for Cam to leave for a while now and have been vocal about his displeasure with him for a while. KAs emergence just gave them a bigger reason to bitch about it.

i love KA. I was excited about his signing and I even debated against Grier with you this summer because I believed Allen had more upside. I’m 100% sold on Allen this year as I was last year.  But I also understand that Cam is the best option at giving this team the beat shot at winning. I also like to believe our owner isn’t as irrational and as reactionary as the people writing stories about Cam “maybe” not being here.

Honestly can’t name a single player that didn’t have off field issues that has been more scrutinized than Cam Newton.  Starting from the pre-draft window.

Dude has handled it all fantastic big picture.  He will never get credit for it because few outside have ever been open to seeing what he clearly is

Cam is a once in a lifetime talent that defies preconceived notions.  For many in the media and our fan base that makes Cam a polarizing personality.  For someone constantly under a microscope Cam has handled the public's scrutiny with class and minimal drama.

It's a really good comparison. It's baffling how much I've been compelled to defend such a talented player to people who want to portray him as a marginal talent.

Honestly, I expect that from opposing fanbases.

From our own? Not so much.

It's also wise to remember the phrase "never meet your heroes" though. I'm sure there are plenty of guys on the Panthers roster who are probably douchenozzles.

It's not exactly rare among pro athletes. Greg Olsen for example, has a stellar image though sometimes he comes across as a prickish know It all to me. I've had no personal experience with him though so who can say?

Newton? "Eccentric" is probably the best description I've seen. Likeable, though maybe a bit socially awkward. That's the kind of personality that would actually make it a little bit difficult to navigate being in a national spotlight.

Yep. I get all defensive when folks talks about Lamar Jackson now.  Dumb poo.  That he is changing the game. Really? He is just copying Kapernick and RGIII.   And I got defensive when people were talking about Kapernick and RGIII.

Cam Newton was a game changer.   No one in NFL history has done what he did....and no one else can even attempt it.

Yea those people suck and we all know who we are.  But how is comparing Allen to a trash can or a marginal backup with a noodle arm supporting him?

I'm not ignoring it, but that's one where I'd say look at the source.

The phrase "don't feed the trolls" exists for a reason.

There are more than a few people who have tried to piss people off by making outlandish statements about Kyle Allen.

And it worked.

Now you can let some annoying a--hole manipulate your emotions and your perception like that, or you can ignore them.

I'd suggest the latter.

I'd point out something Igo mentioned that I hadn't thought of when he was analyzing the Panthers official statement.

What do you not see in any of this stuff?

"See ya next year"?

"Can't wait till you're back"?

"Look forward to working with you next season"?

Is there anything you see that points to him being back in the future or is most of it "thank you" for the past?

Take a look back at the statement that the Panthers released and tell me if you get the same impression.

Ive read Cams statement several times, All I see is him saying he wants to get better for charlotte and the Panthers.  Don't really see that as a goodbye.  I think people want to read into thing like there's some hidden meaning, but this is just him saying he will be back

I get the exact same thing from this. Not sure why that guy is peddling nonsense.

It doesn't actually say any of those things though.

"Charlotte will be forever in my heart" doesn't equal "I'm staying in Charlotte".

"You guys" is an extremely flexible term that isn't necessarily exclusive to Panther fans.

And "I will continue to support the Panthers" doesn't mean that he'll be playing for them. It actually sounds very external.

Honestly, I'd say you're the person who's reading it the way you want to read it.

I understand this is something that nobody wants to see happen, but all the denial in the world isn't going to stop it.
