I find the mention of museums, libraries, community gardens and farmers markets noteworthy as these aren’t the sort things you build if all you care about is ROI. This could just be window dressing to make things look good, but Tepper’s track record as a philanthropist makes me inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt until there is reason otherwise.  So far it looks promising, could be great for Rock Hill.

Also, who in their right mind staff or players would want to live on Tepper’s military base? Especially with the rest of that stuff around it would make you into a 24/7 tourist destination and likely get you involved with the wrong people from the get go (especially if gambling is allowed).

Some people prefer to be in the middle of the action. Typically that preference skews younger, but I don’t see any gambling facility Teppe builds catering to unemployed uncle Earl who has free time in abundance and born to lose tattoed on his forehead.

It’s a good place for rookies, practice squad players, midseason player acquisitions, low level employees, interns and the like that aren’t yet established and/or want to live close to their jobs.

For example, we just claimed Donte Moncrief. Instead of him having to go around and find a place to live or rent a hotel room, he could be put up in an apartment next to the practice facility.

You think that an exclusive high roller only gambling establishment in Rock Hill, SC is a profitable business? Unless they put some minimums which would leave the place empty then all of the Uncle Earl’s and Uncle Jimbo’s will be regulars there.

Yeah how dare he try to provide the best, most fun and comfortable environment for his players and coaches. After nearly 30 years of practicing in poo conditions and conference rooms. Helicopters. The high rollers will fly in from downtown and be playing Bacharat before you pull into your driveway after fighting 77/85/south blvd/Independance/16 etc. etc. would be my guess. It might sound weird to you and I, but when you’re selling snob appeal, “fly to the casino from work just like Goldman Sachs managing partners do” will likely have a nice ring to it for anyone with a corner office downtown or over at that monstrosity by the university.

If the bar charges 10 bucks a beer, doesn’t run domestic beer specials and doesn’t offer buffalo wings but does have pan seared octopus appetizers prepared by a chef at 12 bucks a plate, people tend to sort themselves out pretty quick. Not saying it will work, just that there are ways of keeping East Chicken Neck out without minimums.

Also for the record my people have been rednecks from Waxhaw since before this country was a thing.
