Colin's Hot Take

Just overheard on the radio. Talking of trading Cam for Phillip as Phillip doesn't want to move to LA, Cam would be a superstar in LA, Phillip is from Carolina area, etc. I still hate the thought of moving off Cam but interesting to see what the national media is thinking. Could give us 2 years to figure out if Grier is the guy or not. Don't shoot the messenger (I still want Cam here next year)

If we want a stop gap QB why not just hang onto our current guy? I'd rather take a shot on Cam getting healthy than a completely washed soon to be 38 year old Rivers.

I agree but if the decision is made I don't hate it. But as you said would prefer to keep Cam. Also a lot of talk of if we lose a few more and if Tua injury drops him a few more spots we could end up there. Not sure I like that idea either

I won’t name names but someone brought Rivers up to me last week and I actually think it’s a pretty good idea.

Reunite him with Norv. Make a few tweaks this offseason with the roster and with a QB like Rivers we could make some noise.

To be fair, crashing and burning would make some noise.

I think with Norv, DJ, CMC, and if Greg can go one more year he'd have a career year here

Honestly, I'd rather take a shot on Tua than Rivers. Rivers was a great QB but the guy is shot. Like Eli level shot.

Rivers is not an elite QB anymore, i wonder if he ever was anything other than over-rated. His chargers teams have never done much of anything in the playoffs even when he had a stacked team. Now he is old and this year he has 14 TD to 10 INT. I dont think he would come in and make us a contender anymore than the chargers are, especially with a braindead coach.

    • Doubling tripling and quadrupling down on this subject in defense of the pick is reminiscent of a certain mindset that has overtaken the political world. This conversation will become less contentious and dragged out to the point of becoming a dead beaten horse if rational minds can simply agree that we made a mistake missed on a potential franchise center and we will learn from it. All this coping is unnecessary.
    • Here in lies the rub that the supporting posters continue to ignore. He wasn’t a 2nd round pick in the 2025 class, especially with an ACL tear. It was a dumb pick for any GM who looks ahead to determine values. C and CB were much better values than an injured RB in 2024. If a RB isn’t even playing much in 2024, you have to compare him to 2025. We’re beating a dead horse but only because the defense of the pick is almost comical at this point. We’ve made a ton of poo picks and moves/non trades while Morgan was GM and the assistant GM. It happens, we don’t have to jump through hoops to act like we just had some really bad luck. The 2025 draft class is unknown so far but damn it felt way better afterwards for the first time in a long time. Embrace the potential and stop stamping guaranteed on the box of poo of the 2018-2024 drafts. We are were we aware because of them and 2025 has to hit so we can get past the 7 win max in 7 year hurdle. Also, “flashed his talent” isn’t 9 carries for 22 yards. His one reception for 18 yards isn’t a flash with 11 other touches for 27 yards. He hasn’t proven anything. We have no idea if he’ll contribute in 2026.
    • Oh for those tired of the Mannings I have bad news, Peytons son Marshal already has college teams after him and he isn't even in HS until this fall...   I'd wager we have two Mannings in the NFL in 2030
