The same reason why we started Moton on the left, Williams on the right then switched everything up after one series coming out of the bye.

A big part of that was that we geared heavily against the pass this offseason and Horton was primarily a run defender.

Then suddenly we look like crap against the run. We bring Horton back, and against a team with a strong run game we... deactivate him 

it really is starting to feel like Rivera and company are just floundering right now.

Brought in ostensibly to help provide some relief for Christian McCaffrey, or possibly to provide a power back option.

I see what you’re saying but the point I was trying to make is at this point in his career he’s just not that good anymore. He couldn’t make it with the Aints and then no teams came calling for several months until we brought him back. If he still was strong against the run, there’d be a market for him. I love what Horton brought in his years here before, as an UDFA, but I don’t think he has much left.

I can understand that. To be fair though, the list of guys on our defense who don't look very good right now isn't a short one.

Cause that's what we do....sign a decent RB to warm the bench and a run stopper to join him.
