Some depressing stats

This season is done but I’m a firm believer that we have one more shot at a run next season without completely blowing it up. We need to give Luke and Cam a shot without Rivera. It baffles me that we only have 3 winning seasons with someone as prolific as Cam on offense and a literal defensive genius like Luke. Let next year be the deciding factor on whether we blow it up or not. This year could’ve ended a lot differently if fired Ron after last season.

Not really. You cant havea bottom QB and bottom run defense and awful offensive line and poor coaching and the worst kicker in the leage expect to be good.

Yeah but generally speaking....when you have the #2 ranked RB and #4 WR....your QB isn’t bottom tier.  As he prohibits their success.

Same with sacks.  Generally with a bottom tier run D you lack the opportunities for a good pass rush to lead the league.

Just really weird this year in how dysfunctional we are.

Panther's lead the league in.......

- Missed opportunities......

- Really trying..........

- Not executing well enough......

- Building young talent at the expense of veterans......

Frankly with the above league leading stats......I'm surprised they weren't mathematically eliminated from the playoff picture on the opening day of the season.

I thought generational talent like Luke Kuechly, Cam Newton and McCaffrey just carried the team and coaching staff.

They are and they have been all along, but there's only so much they can do. Ron got lucky a couple times and they had just enough of the right pieces to compensate even more and he wins coach of the year.

This team has had some incredible players on it, but we still only manage to eek out 3 winning seasons in the time he's been here. There's no excuse for it.

If someone told me at this point in the season....

We had the #2 RB in rushing yards

We had the #4 WR in receiving yards

We lead the NFL in sacks

I would naturally assume we would have a winning record

Not if you would have told me at the same time Cam had only played two games in the season and we lost those.

as one of cam's biggest fans - would you have wanted to see him behind this line?  i'm meh on cam and wouldn't.   i'm also glad he wasn't here to mask our roster issues.  if he gets healthy and ends up here i don't want to ever see him play under the conditions he's been given in the past again.   if he's here, or not, we need to protect our investment, not ronco's ass.

If you’re meh on the best player in franchise history well...

The line looks so bad because Cam isn’t at QB. It’s always been bad y’all just ignored it and chose to blame Cam. Looks even worse now with a QB who has zero pocket presence or awareness.

the line looks so bad because it is.   and no, nobody ignored that it sucked besides marty and ron.   they just kept thinking new shiny toys would take us over the top.   stbugs has detailed pretty well all the interior linemen we passed over in other threads.  most of us have been wanting it a long time.   i also don't think cam is the best player we've ever had, but that's not very important.
