Is this going to be like a weekly thing? I mean, I don’t care, it’s his team. It’s not a bad idea to just stop talking for a few minutes.

Breer generally covers the owners meetings.

That's where a pretty good portion of his info about the team sale came from.

He said he's hiring the coach first, then later the executive after input from the coach.

This seems ass backwards to me, but both Caserio and Colbert couldn't sign here until AFTER the 2020 draft. If Tepper isn't careful this could end up being a clusterfug.

That struck me as backwards, too, but it may mean he is already talking to his choice (of those two or someone else) and will continue to do so as the coaching search progresses.

I liked how he clarified the role of analytics.  Us playing to the averages on things like opting to go for 2 don't work when our performance is below average.  That is both a problem with the numbers and a problem with our preparation.

I think he becomes less of a focus after he gets his organization set up the way he wants it.  He can become the Carolina version of Tom Benson and dance on the field after wins.  Hopefully he will be doing a lot of dancing.

We’ll see what happens. My only problem is with national reporting that ignores fundamental specifics. Hence, the article I wrote earlier.

I tend to prefer local reporting because they focus more on one team. It's hard to cover 32 teams and do it well.

With that said, Breer is one of the better ones.

Tepper speaking to the media doesn’t give me any good or bad feelings. It’s just a guy talking. Carboni and I were talking about this earlier on our podcast: Tepper was talking about Hurney, singing his praises, and he had to kind of catch himself and dial it back a little. I mean, he owns the team, so there’s no pressure to say the right or wrong thing. I also think he really enjoys talking. He’s always been that way. He pops up on CNBC quite a bit, and he likes to share his perspective on business and life. Just hire the right people, and empower those people to make good football decisions. First time owners have made some really bad hires on their first go around over the past few years. It’s important for David to get this one right.

I’ve never once felt the need to tell people that my greatest strength is how stupid I am. Mostly because being stupid isn’t a strength. And also mostly because that’s something I’d prefer keep to myself.

The beginning of knowledge is realizing you are devoid of it.

He was walking into a situation where he realized he had a lot to learn and owned it instead of being blind to it or pretending otherwise.
