What is a bigger problem? Defense or QB?

How many turnovers would we have if we had a actual line that blocks? I mean honestly Cam might would be healthy and Rivera might not be fired.

He’s been making some poor reads and poor throws. It doesn’t change the fact that HE is turning the ball over. If CMC was fumbling left and right I’d call him out too. He’s hurting us more than helping us at this point. I get your job here is to defend him in every thread but it’s getting to a point where it can’t be defended anymore.

Pressure has been the cause of 70% of those turnovers or killed drives. The rest is a undrafted Rookie making mistakes. Either way we have a vet defense giving up 30 points a game to any offense.

And again... when the defense steps off the field and Allen gives the ball away and they have to come back on the field... you wear out our defense. Allen will be the first one to tell you this game is on him.

he will, and the game is (partially) on him.

but the defense can't use exhaustion as an excuse for the 3 tds in the first half.

Fair point. But they haven't prevented many important points all year. Same could be said about our offense though. Tepper really needs to be careful who he picks to GM because good drafting moving forward is super important.

Yes,  we need to hit in free agency and the draft. But who we get will be based on or new coaching staff. It's wait and see now.

He hasn’t even played a full season... missed the first two games of the year because Cam played.... has two games left to play... and already has more turnovers in one season than Cam has had in any season ever.

He is killing drives and giving the ball away. This isn’t his first bad game. He even had another fumble today but we were able to recover it. If you aren’t an elite player the last thing you can afford to do is turn the ball over. If he doesn’t gift them three possessions we might be celebrating instead of here pointing out more reasons we suck.

I don't see what this has to do with much tbh, given Cam is arguably a HoFer and Allen is at best a decent backup.  But it doesn't matter who our QB is if we have a defense giving up 5+ yards a rush and spotting teams 20 points on their first few drives, as seems to be commonplace.

I don't think Allen is the answer, but I think it is clear that an entire side of the ball is a problem as well.

People here just a page ago were telling me that these turnovers are 70% due to pressures and the rest are just an u drafted rookie ( he isn’t ) which makes it sound like they are blaming the line. Cam has also played behind terrible lines and never turned the ball over at this rate. The more your defense is out there the more points they are likely to give up. Give me the old Kyle Allen of not turning the ball over and I bet we give up less points over the season.

Cannot disagree. There isn't much I can find on the D to be happy with. Maybe 2/3 of the players are an embarrassment.

There are many instances of horrible seasons by rookie QBs, out of guys who had good careers. So this isn't that surprising given the circumstances. That said, the OL looks like a tough fix to me.

    • I've seen enough tape review to see that we run crossers...we have dudes in the middle of the field. I have to think that this is a harder area for someone of Bryce's stature to hit. You have to see directly over the center of the line and is probably where the most interceptions happen (he has thrown a LOT of his picks by not seeing a dude in the middle of the field).
    • I’m pretty sure we did end up getting the first in that drive, but I don’t remember. It was obviously a catch the ball didn’t move
    • While I don't think NFL games are fully rigged, it's certainly closer to a scripted outcome than we all think. The NFL by their own admission in court is not a fair and balanced sporting event. It is a managed entertainment product, a "spectacle" as they've put it, that now has sports betting as a huge financial pillar of their business model. It's ridicuously naive to still think the NFL isn't using referees to manage the games towards certain outcomes, using "replays in the booth" and overturning calls, choosing to overlook penalties at critical moments and calling questionable and sometimes phantom game changing penalties at other critical junctures of games. The NFL has always done this going as far back as the '60s, and they were investigated by the FBI in the '70s which found a large number of ownership groups had ties to the mob. So when the overwhelming majority of the moneyline bets were on the Panthers vs the Saints last week, and suddenly we see some strange and ticky tack penalties we've rarely seen called on the Panthers all year, I just know there's more going on behind the scenes. And suddenly next week, the Panthers will probably be nudged to a win, to keep the NFC South race interesting, as I see the Bucs are the favorite as of now and most moneyline bets will trend towards the Bucs until during the game when the Bucs are leading heading into the 4th quarter, and the Panthers are nudged to a win. At least, that's what the NFL and Vegas probably want to happen.
