Ahhh....it's probably happened a few times in 25 years, especially considering some of the QB's and WR's we've had.

Regardless, not a good look. It definitely shows that Kyle is not handling the pressure well.

I imagine it’s happened with Kerry Collins, just by what I’ve heard and read about him, but that was before my time. I can’t remember Buerlein, Delhomme, Clausen, Or Cam doing that.

There was a story during Cam's rookie season that Olsen said something to him on the field during a bad game and he responded with a "f*** you".

As I recall, Newton was supposed to have apologized after the game and nothing came of it. Worth noting that Newton would have been in a lot better position to get away with something like that then Kyle Allen would be now.

I'm in favor of this move, but I hope you guys aren't expecting anything. He wasn't an elite player in college, people (rightfully) didn't want him drafted, he looked bad in camp, he looked horrific in preseason, and you haven't heard any whispers about how the team is confident in how he's looking in practice during the season. The only glimmer of hope people have is simply that he's "somebody else".

Lol. Yeah that was the one I was thinking of specifically. I could imagine that Delhomme and Steve Smith might have had some issues at one time or another. Both of those guys were fiery and emotional. We did have Keyshawn Johnson at one point too and I could easily see him getting on a QB's nerves, as well.

Why not at this point?

We invested in him.  Why put him in bad spots in a lost season when you don't need to?

Letting him play the last home game.

I fail to see how making his first start in a loud road game behind a bad OL is a great idea.

I'm concerned Grier is going to win against Indy

New Qbs without game tape tend to do very well, and Grier is much better than Allen anyways

Could be the difference between a top 7 pick and a top 17 pick

What have you seen to suggest that? The only metric we have to compare them by is preseason and Allen clearly played better than Grier did in preseason.

Word was that it was Scott and Norv who pushed pretty heavily for Grier in the draft.

Wonder if they had any part in this decision.

Eh....we will never now but in the press conference it looked like Fewell felt it was time to move on. He slipped up a little and basically said it would be Grier.

Yeah and I don't think it's exactly unusual for stuff like that to happen. It's when you couple it with poor play(like Allen has and Cam did at one time) that it becomes a problem. Cam was also a #1 overall draft pick so his leash is obviously going to be a lot greater than an UDFA backup QB.

I actually have a decent reason to watch the last two games if it is Grier. At least I get to see what he is made of.

I ain't gonna lie. I'm gonna watch anyway! Grier would make it 5X more interesting though.

I don't see why people are so quick to write him off. It almost seems like some people want him to fail. Can't be worse than Turnover Kyle!

Nah he was great in college, I watched a lot of him

Preseason performance has no correlation with regular season performance (there's been a few studies about this, and Cam looked dreadful in preseason)

Grier has a lot of talent, and is extremely confident.  I'm expecting him to light it up against a bad defense with no game tape on him (I don't think Grier projects as a starter in the NFL, but a high end backup, which is a lot more than Kyle Allen is worth).

Hopefully we still lose.   And people will need to temper their expectations if he balls out, because the NFL has shown us that most backup qbs look very good for a few games before teams can study them.

I think most want to see him. You have a group that hitched their wagon to Allen pretty hard and they are sticking with their horse. Then you have the people who are afraid he'll get battered and ruined in the two games.

I just don't agree with those groups. Allen is not getting it done and Grier is an asset that we felt strongly enough to take in the third round. Hell, Ryan Finley got a couple of games in with the Bengals. Why not see what you have?

Hell, none of these guys ever punched anybody out.

There was that one guy who did, but he still stuck around.

If you can get past that, I imagine you can get past "f*** you".
