He bulked up to 250 for the combine and private workouts but there is no way he is 250 during the season.  He has a slender frame.  Not saying its a busted pick but the "negatives" about lack of weight and the running game are pretty spot on at the moment.

I thought you guys were sating he was a monster sack man what happen. I didnt watch any games after CAM got hurt.

Actual retirement this year, but no games last year, so I'm at a loss as to when the clock officially starts for him. I'll bow to your experience on this one, though.

I’m not 100% sure on this one but I believe it’s based on the last game he played, not technical “retirement.” I believe there are Hall of Famers who never officially “retired” and just stopped playing, like Gates did after 2018 before “retiring.”

Damn, I blame fantasy football for this constant on and on about trading this guy and that guy. ITS FOOTBALL, not basketball or fantasy football. Freaks of nature are revered in the NFL. If they can help another team win he can help you win. Cam at 80% is still better than most of the league. Greg Olsen is still a freak of nature generational TE with the best hands on the team aside from Cam himself. It was stupid to let Smitty go. I would love to have seen them pull that sht they did in the SuperBowl with him present. Would have been blood and guts.

You chuckleheads are much too eager to throw this franchise into a tailspin just for the sake of losing to get better? Losing to get better? Ask Tampa how that works. They STILL haven't pulled up out of that tailspin since their last SB almost decades ago. Be careful what you wish for.

I hope my QB1 comes back and Rhule bitch slaps the NFCS. I respect #88 and if he wants to suit up its a win. I'd take #89 if he suited up. You disrespect what veterans, especially elite ones mean to actually winning games. Why not make this a bounce back and smack the NFL year? Others have done it.

Exactly.

People here are like alright I'll let my team get butt rammed for the next four years .. if it means that we'll be good five years from now.

There is a chance that losing the next four years never culminates in winning, there is a chance that the losing just continues.

This is the NFL - you try to win a championship every year.

If he was as positive as you all are that this is going to be a complete five-year re-build.

I've not seen many people argue this. While its not zero the majority has argued parity.

Antonio Gates just retired. That would put Antonio in direct HoF competition in their first eligible year if Olsen also retired. That's two dominant TEs, not good for either's chances of making it.

I love Olsen but Gates is far ahead of him

a thread died for this

Waiting on the Cam decision, seems pretty obvious based on what he said end of the year, he was still creating separation and getting open, just didn't have a QB that could deliver consistently.

I'm pretty sure most of the vets like an Irvin, McCoy, Olsen. Boston want a guy like Cam under center and not a unproven potentially over-hyped rookie, or a return to Allen or Grier.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
