Since the panthers came into the league how many teams have an overall record over .500?

Why don't you tell us. And, of those teams, do they have back to back winning seasons ever? The Panthers have had windows, but have never walked through. Damn paint sealed it shut.

They'll need to have a great draft and FA. They're obviously going to have to find some pieces and refill the roster but it's not out of the ordinary in the NFL.

2017 Saints - 7-9 previous year, 11-5 the next

2010 49ers - 6-10 previous year, 13-3 the next, they've actually did it twice this decade

2005 Bears - 5-11 previous year, 11-5 the next and that was with Rex Grossman at QB

2017 Rams - 4-12 previous year, 11-5 the next

Did all of those teams have a complete staff turnover? No but I'd rather take a gamble to be great and shoot for the moon before I give Ron a chance for more "missed opportunities". The key is making sure you have a franchise QB, a O-line to protect that QB, and then you've got a solid base.

To expect any of that to happen much less all of it is beyond delusional.   You have my vote for most optimistic fan at least.

It does randomly happen though. Who the hell thought Jim Harbaugh would turn the 49ers from a decade of misery into a Super bowl contender in 1 offseason

If it does great!  I would honestly be shocked.  But until that happens I'm not getting my hopes up anytime soon.

Teams turn things around in 1 season all the time. 49ers were terrible last year. Now they’re in the Super Bowl. That’s the culture we live in these days, and in the NFL

Unfortunately that doesn’t seem like it’s possible for us. The 9ers had talented pieces already. They’ve been drafting trenches in the 1st round for years. They needed a good coaching staff and a few key FA signings.

the panthers have an all pro rb and budding star at wr, a first round OLB with big potential and a solid linebacker who could get better.  We don’t have the lines to compete the following year like the 9ers did. If cam came back 100% healthy I would say we at least have a minimal shot. If not, we are toast.

That’s plenty reasonable and fair. I’m just saying that it has happened. Sometimes all a team needs is a fresh start. Panthers are not completely devoid of talent by any means. A good draft and some key FA signings and things could turn around. Not saying they will but it’s not a wild thought either

The odds are not in your favor unfortunately.

Delusional with facts? You guys are a riot. If Rhule is the guy that gets the job done I'll be glad, if he isn't then it's time to move on to the next. NFL teams can turn around with a good HC, coaching staff and front office that actually wants to be great. Complacent owners who only care about the bottom line end up with mediocre teams.

That's good but I still think @hepcatis the most optimistic. Better luck next year.

Can't be any worse than watching Panthers games the past four seasons. Repeated mistakes by the coaching staff, flat out random lethargic performances against trash teams, constantly getting outcoached by any HC worth his salt, and not competing against the real competition of the league. If you can stomach that, this next season won't be that big of deal.

9ers defensive line:

all 1st round picks

arik armstead

Deforest buckner

nick bosa

Dee Ford

Solomon Thomas

Offensive line:

LT joe staley - 1st round pick

RT Mike McGlinchey - 1st round pick

C Weston richburg - 2nd round pick

LG laken Tomlinson - 1st round pick

RG Mike pearson - 7th round pick gem

so out of 9 starting lineman, offense and defense, a staggering SEVEN were 1st round picks and one more was a 2nd round pick.

we don’t have the talent to turn this around in one season barring some absolute miracle. This should also show fans how amazing Cam Newton has been carrying these teams to the playoffs.

But Luke and Olsen not being on the team next year doesn’t really mean much in terms of us being able to turn it around next season. We are talent depleted at the trenches. Can’t win like that.
