They love that story don't they.

Alright guys, you win.  Only 139,999 people have died from COVID-19.  Throw away those masks.

You win the cookie!  See, only a gullible person would dismiss one of many, many instances where the stats have been skewed.  If this were the only case...sure, dismiss it as an one-off.   It's not...not even close, and increasingly these "errors" are being uncovered.

Riddle me this:  Who is this White House official quoted regarding the pandemic--"...A pure fortuity this wasn't the greatest mass casualty event in American History?"

Elective surgeries are allowed now.  But sure, 119% of ICU beds are COVID-19 patients.  Granted certain counties may be stretched like Miami-Dade, but state-wide?  Nah, not even close.  Twist a narrative into a pretzel. It's fun!!!

What's your point? No one said every patient has COVID. But in the absence of COVID, cities are almost never pushing their total ICU capacity. Also, I don't know why you mentioned elective surgeries. The number of patients admitted to the ICU after an elective surgery is close to zero. Pretty much only happens when the surgeon makes a serious mistake or there's an unforeseen complication. Has nothing to do with the situation they're in. I also suspect many Miami hospitals will be shutting that down at this point if they haven't already since COVID is taking all of their resources.

Also why minimize the situation in Florida because it's not every hospital in the state? Good for them. I'm sure New York was patting themselves on the back in March when tens of thousands of people were "only" dying in New York City. No one is being unfairly critical here. Florida is one of the world's current epicenters for the virus and there's not a lot of sugar coating you can do with that. And before you start celebrating that not every hospital is pushing capacity, give it some time. That's how viruses work. They spread from one person and place to another.

How skewed do you think the stats are exactly.  Gotta be at least half of those deaths are falsely attributed to COVID, right?

140,000 dead.  It doesn't make a damn if 100, 1000, or even 10,000 of those deaths were falsely attributed to COVID because that's still a big fuging number.  It's real, it's killing people, and you can't bullshit your way out of it because the numbers are just too big.  We're past that point.

It seems pretty clear you enjoy parrotting the inane talking points of the president, which I guess is why he does it. Yeah let's break from the rest of the world despite having the highest number of cases by far and stop tracking a highly virulent disease which helps identify outbreaks and control spread, as well as gives information on the safety of gradual opening of business and reduces the risk of overwhelming health care systems. And let's pretend because we stopped hypermonitoring H1N1 cases after a few months, a disease that was far less deadly and debilitating, that it's perfectly justifiable to do that for COVID. Just look how almost step by step the world is treating COVID like they did H1N1, huh? Even if you think that it wasn't the best decision to stop meticulously tracking H1N1, it would in no way excuse not closely tracking COVID now. Even Trump is trying to say it was terrible that they stopped tracking it. So he must acknowledge that if the US would stop tracking COVID now, it must be damn near criminal.

Look we get it. It's embarrassing for Trump how bad our numbers look compared to the rest of the world and I'm sure for his contingent of die-hard fans, nothing would be nicer than pretending the numbers don't exist. But sometimes the greater good and the interest of public health should be considered more important than the president's ego, as crazy as that might sound.

Yeah, class dismissed.  Go load up on some more talking points and hit us back.

As it turned out in hind site.  So what steps were taken to mitigate H1N1 when the virus first broke out and being studied?  Answer, none.  Pure luck it wasn't highly lethal as Biden's former Chief of Staff later admitted in an interview (Ron Klain).  I'm not suggesting we stop tracking COVID-19, but what I am suggesting is the data is being hypermonitored, as you would, say for political ends and manipulated to a degree.

Regarding ICUs--ICU units stay mostly occupied a great deal of the time:

"Over the three years studied, total ICU occupancy ranged from 57.4% to 82.1% ..." from a study released in 2014. Here  So it's not a stretch for an ICU to go from 82% to 100% quickly.

Oh and only botched surgeries thing is a joke.  My father-in-law had back surgery, everything went well and he recovered his first couple of days in ICU before getting his own room.  Long, invasive surgeries that have a fairly lengthy recovery often have stint in ICU directly following the surgery.

The CDC isn't political?   How about 8,000+ donations to the DNC since 2015.  Trump got only THREE donations in 2016 for his campaign from people at the CDC.  A little bit skewed there I would say.

Please continue.

Those numbers would be slashed if coronavirus had to be the primary cause of death.  As long as it can be said ...no matter how far of a stretch it being a factor in a persons death, it's going to remain high.  But sure lets continue to pad those numbers when people in hospice care test positive and die.

So what? Scientists and people with advanced degrees and high IQs aren’t exactly Trump’s demographic.

Just because someone votes a certain way or makes donations doesn’t mean they are idealogs. Their life’s work is to protect the US from deadly pathogens not engage in political brinkmanship.

It’s obvious the anti-cdc and anti science stuff is coming from a political agenda. You’re being manipulated.

Jesus Christ, quit trying to run damage control for our dogshit President and his amateur hour administration by blubbering about Obama.  It's not convincing.

I said many, many pages ago, minds were made up on this.  There is no convincing to do.

Folks in government bureaucracies often line the DNCs pockets.  Small and medium businesses lines the RNCs .  This is very, very common knowledge.

I'm open to read/hear other views, but when more and more 'mistakes' are being uncovered at the foremost authority in the field of infectious disease in the world, something starts to stink.  Not just there, but at the state and local levels too.

    • I went to Canes games back in '04 & '05 when you were probably still a swimmer waiting to make your dad a father. There was no one there bc they sucked. Some of the lowest attendance in the NHL. As a Panthers fan coming off a SB season (03-04), I couldn't even believe they put a hockey team in Raleigh, and given the attendance, a lot of people speculated they would be relocated somewhere back up north where they would be supported and not "Mayberry." Seriously, educate youself.  That is reality. That being said, comparing that environment to 2024 Canes would be disingenuous. I was at PNC last year and know how great the current environment is. Comparing the current environment at BOA to 10 years ago is just as disingenuous.  Just bc you didn't witness how good BOA is when the Panthers are actually decent doesn't change reality. Seriously, surely you see that coming from such an elitist environment like the globally renowned world-class city of Raleigh, NC... I guarantee you if you went to a Canes game and a Panthers game in 2005, the difference would be unreal bc the Panthers were awesome and the Canes were (at the time) a moribund franchise. I have been in BOA when the whole stadium was rocking. You simply are young, don't know what you're talking about, but want to portray yourself as having knowledge about things you simply don't. You have a lot in common with modern day politicians and televangelists Like I said, Idiocracy has prevailed... Have a great day too!
    • Let it all out bro.   At the end of the day Charlotte fans just aren't that passionate as other fans. The Panthers and Hornets crowds are wack.    Go to a Canes game and you will understand this. Tell the family I said hi and Happy Father's Day.
    • Dude you have no idea what you're talking about. Best place to live?  LMAO... that's your criteria...  Charlotte gets put all over those lists too... come on man... and those lists have zero to do with sports. I'm done after this bc I'm punching down intellectually here... The Panthers have been bad for 6 years now. You are obviously young and not overly educated based off the "dunks" you're putting out there that certainly are, so let me educate you today on the Panthers. The Panthers sold out for well over a decade straight. BOA has been as good an environment as there is when the team is good.  Fan support for the Panthers has been incredible when the team has even remotely reciprocated. The idea that Charlotte doesn't support the Panthers is utter BS. People in Raleigh have the biggest little brother syndrome of all time... Nobody outside of the Triangle cares about any of your "vaunted" sports team outside of Duke-UNC in basketball on a national scale. Sure, the Canes are great. But nationally, the WWE dwarfs the NHL in ratings. More people care about Cody Rhodes than Sebastian Aho... or anyone else in the NHL for that matter... I doubt less than 5% of anyone in this state outside of Raleigh even knows who that is... that's a knock on Aho who is a great player, it's just the NHL barely makes a ripple in the overall hierarchy of American sports. It's not in the same universe as the NFL or NBA no matter how badly you want to tell yourself otherwise. Raleigh is not a big-time sports city, no matter how much you want to scream into the abyss about it. Neither is Charlotte. But no one here is making such a nonsense argument... LOL it's good to be young and to be ignorant enough to be confidently wrong... WTF are you even on this board though since Charlotte is so beneath you? There is an actual discussion board on this very site for Raleigh sports since they are so superior...  Maybe it's bc I'm watching Idiocracy with my son, but your timing is perfect, my man... The dumbest among us have become the most confidence in their ignorance... God Bless America!!
