Colts cut Desir, taking unnecessary risk.

They were not in a desperate cap situation before cutting Desir and could accumulate even more cap room if they're able to get veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett off the books — something they're likely to try and get done as a consequence of Rivers’ deal. Perhaps a big-time signing at receiver (Robby Anderson), cornerback (Logan Ryan) or defensive line (Jadeveon Clowney, Ndamukong Suh) is in line for the soon-to-be-competing Colts.

But for now, the biggest question: Where will a starting-caliber corner in Desir end up now at the height of his game and a sudden late addition to an expensive free-agent class at corner? And will the Colts' faith in Ya-Sin as a CB1 on the outside be returned with production in Year 2 for the raw Temple product? This is a surprising gambit for a Colts team that didn't necessarily need to take it, and if a corresponding move doesn't strengthen their roster, then Indianapolis could very well find itself longingly watching Desir dominate for another team during the 2020 season.

Colts just released Brian Hoyer. Patriots on line one...

Jeff Howe
@jeffphowe
Brian Hoyer is open to returning to New England in a backup role. And last year when the Patriots released Hoyer, they intended to bring him back once the roster was a little more settled with injury situations. So we’ll see if it works out now.

Panthers in FA: “Hey...who is that dude over there?”

”Some no-name, sir. No one here’s ever even heard of him”

”Perfect! Get his ass here on a one-year deal ASAP”

The lack of acquiring assets by signing no name guys is maddening.  Right now I will reserve judgement.  Maybe some of the signings will not be kept and revert their comp picks back.  But I have no idea what the plan is.

    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
