Interesting on the #Panthers: several team execs I’ve spoken to said the “everyone is available” tune heading into the combine didn’t hold for Carolina. GM Marty Hurney is working more of a mixed reboot than total rebuild. They’re going to retool as they go rather than gut it.

We have to many holes to reboot quite simply.

Still, if Cam doesn’t come back at 100% healthy and dominating, we’re going to be the top bet for first overall next year. Look at our D and OL and QB if not Cam... and seems like odds on Cam staying are slim.

That's good to hear. A mixed reboot is almost exactly what '17 Rams, Niners & Bills have done. Result? Playoff teams & SB trips. Still no SB ring but you get the picture.

A HUGE tank is similar to what the Browns, Jets & Dolphins have been doing for years. Any improvement so far? Nada.

Yep. It all comes down to Cam's health. With a healthy Cam in Joe Brady's offense and a duct taped together patchwork of an OL and defense we can still be competitive. I'm not saying we're going to the SB, but we can compete against our competition week in and week out. Without a healthy Cam, yeah... we're in the running for a very high draft pick.

That's a take with incomplete information. We have no idea what our roster or other rosters are going to look like heading into training camp. Are we a top prospect for a bottom 5 roster without Cam right now? Sure thing. We might not be headed into TC, however. 

There are so many variables with being a dumpster fire #1 draft pick.

That’s about as bad as it gets, hardly a “reboot.”

 

Rams before their first playoff year with McVay, all the way back to 2007:

Bills hovered between 6 and 9 wins for years.

 

Not really the best comparisons, and they haven’t even really had any success.

You can only add so much talent in one offseason, even with a high pick like we have. And it’s been widely reported we’re not going to be “spenders” in FA.

 

With healthy MVP level Cam I see fringe 9-10 win playoff team at best, without him, no matter who we add (unless it’s a top QB this draft that we play and who is good), I don’t see better than 4 wins, likely less.
