Marty loves to go against the grain any uses the 3rd round on too many gambles. In a heavy OT and WR draft with a couple of defensive unicorns in Okudah and Simmons I just do not think you should get cute. I would love to see a OT in rd 1 and a WR at some point with the rest being defense. If there is 1 coversion player drafted ala Charles Godfrey, Sharrod Martin or Armanti Edwards we need to demand Marty's immediate resignation.

They sign like 18 WR now.. If they draft another one I'm poo my pants.  That dream has gone now.. Hurney has already Hurneyed the draft.. While every load up on the strength of this draft.  He will get the position nobody is focused on.. Get ready for Dline, LB'S and secondary players.. Hopefully a Og but he probably grab a TE in a week TE draft...

Parting with Cam was how you got TB.. Teddy wasn't coming without a promise to start.. How are you going to promise another QB a starting job and still plan to keep Cam in Carolina??

that's purely speculative, I've mentioned this but his contract is extremely similar to what Mike Glennon got from Chicago just before they moved up to take trubisky

"sure teddy, if you come here you're gonna have every chance to compete for a starting job, were even moving on from our entrenched starter, enticing huh?"

You call it speculative.. I call it subjective reasoning.. Glennon and Teddy are 2 different levels of QB.. Teddy was a 1st rounder rookie of the Year who has already been a starter.. Glennon  was a 3rd rounder who has always been a backup planned for every team he went to...

This is playing out just like it seems..

Cam wanted more of a commitment then a prove it contract. (Former MVP) He had every right to asked for that as the face of the franchise.. The Panthers (Tepper) wasn't willing to do that... So Cam is gone.

Brady talks up Teddy.. Teddy is looking for a opportunity to prove he can be a franchise QB you build around.. He knows he can't get Dex money so he takes a lesser contract to bet on himself and the opportunity.. Tepper is convinced that this a calculated risk .  Money isn't  major team is still going to get rid of vets and start to rebuild.. And he still has a good chance at getting the QB he really wants next season.. It just works out all around..

And just hearing Teddy's interview just made it clear he was promised more then "a chance to compete " .. He was giving all assurances that he is the defacto starter next season..

Its clear they aren't  drafting a QB this year..

TB's contract makes you think the plan is this year TB starts, next year we draft a QB and he sits behind TB for a year, and then in year 3 if the young guy is ready they can release TB.

If you draft a QB this year, you aren't going to want to sit him for 2 years and it doesn't make sense so get rid of TB after one year based on his contract.

Honestly I'm kind of glad if that is the plan, Burrow and Tua would be expensive to get, and I'm not sold on the Love and Herbert.

His arm is huge, but his mechanics are bad.

He seems like a smart guy though.

Those bad (inconsistent) mechanics and the pressure of the nfl are not a good combo.

Sounds familiar. Wasn't this the narrative on the last 1st round QB we picked? He worked out pretty well.

You need an X factor. As it stands now, at least from my point of view, Herbert and his potential will sell more seats and jerseys here locally than New Orleans retreads.

We don't need Herbert to be Cam Newton to win. If he's slightly better than Jake Delhomme I'll take that all day.
