Yeah I’m not wanting to spend a top 7 pick on a DT that would just fill a big hole on the depth chart. I like brown but he’s not the next coming of Sapp, Suh or Donald. You only take a DT that high if he can get to the QB.

We should sign Damon “Snacks” Harrison if we’re wanting a run stuffing DT so bad.

He’s been very good at exactly what Brown would be bringing to the table at a fraction of the cost

At 31, Snacks would just be a bandaid anyway. I think we all saw the potential downfall of going with a bunch of "name" aging vets at DT last seasoin.

I'm agree with you. I like Brown... But I dont want to spent  a top 10 pick on such a limited guy. Simmons is a generational talent and athlete. in the top 10 you want guys that can do more. I dont get that from brown.

Again, I see combine versus game tape.  Simmons combine performance versus Browns game tape selectively picked apart.

We’re just going to have to agree to disagree on how we see this one from a value stand point.

At the end of the day I think our 7th overall pick can be used a lot more effectively than on a run stuffing DT. You’re higher on Brown than I am and that’s cool, I get why you want him and I know he’s a safe pick but I also think CJ is a pretty safe pick and lock down corners are extremely tough to find these days.

I’m not sure when our next chance will be to find a legit corner. Just look at our teams history at the position. Moving forward after pick 7, imo it would be less of a challenge to fill the DT role than it would to fill the corner role.

I do think we end up with Brown at the end of the day fwiw.

Henderson worries me. That dude is soft as a pillow.

I read somewhere he was dealing with an injury in 2019 which may have resulted in some of the poor tackling.

He was better in 2018 if you go and watch his 2018 games.

But I think he’s a better cover guy than Okudah and that’s the main thing. If you’re choosing Okudah over Henderson because of tackling given their position meh.

CJ’s ability to flip his hips and hit top speed immediately is damn impressive. He’s a lot stronger than Okudah as well.

I'm not trying to take Henderson at 7. If we trade down sure. I would take brown before Henderson at 7. While I dout brown's ability to get to the qb, I don't doubt he's a good NFL player. Hes safe...henderson a bigger question mark.

What’re your concerns with CJ?

Honestly, I still don't know what type of coverage schemes Rhule and Snow want to implement in the NFL. They were largely zone blitz oriented in college. If they're going to use that same approach in the NFL then I just don't see the scheme fit with Henderson and even with Okudah, I'm just not all that excited about drafting a CB in the top 10 to play him in a zone blitz scheme. I'd rather wait and take Bryce Hall in the 2nd or 3rd. I think he'd excel in that type of scheme.

Regardless of what they did in college I think the league is forcing you into being able to play more press.

I'm not talking about beating bad teams during the regular season, but when you get into the playoffs and starting going up against the really good QBs, they are just so good at getting the ball out quick.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
