Do you take Tua if he is there? Okudah over Simmons?

If he is there, the trade offers would be substantial, I am assuming.

Great! I would love a trade back with at least one addition pick in the first 3 rounds. I would pass on anyone at 7 to move back to 7 or 8 spots. Turn one pick of either a CB or DT into both a CB and DT.

Without the injury concerns, I definitely would. The injury concerns are very legit though and I don't know what to make of them.

Without the injury concerns, Tua is #1 and Burrow is #2.

Where would brown fit in that order?  To me Tua, Okudah, Brown, Simmons.  I'm not a big fan of picking Simmons for this team, he is really a weak side LB in the pros and we already have that in Shaq

Actually I would put Tua, Okudah, Wirfs, Simmons, Willis, Brown,..

im not that big on DT early... I’m just not.

i think there are plenty of options in the 2nd round.

i personally would love an OT,.. Okung is a rental and we need a long term viable option.

Simmons is worth more than DT also,.. he’s versatile and fast.

I also like taking Okudah and then jumping up for the Green Arrow,.. Queen.

Absolutely. Tua was hands down the best player before the injury.

i believe you stick him behind Teddy, continue to get him stronger and better.art news GIF

I could argue that CB is our biggest need.  Why should we not take Okudah?

We’ve like never picked a top 10 corner,..

I looked up Chris Gamble and he who won’t be named that should never have gotten out of prison,.. both high 20s picks.

the Saints defense changed drastically and immediately a couple of seasons ago with a top 10 corner

We need one and Okudah is a better choice than Simmons or Brown. Simmons you could argue if Snow is going to move him around and he turns out to be as smart as Eric Berry or Kuechly or something.

DT are great,.. Philly proved that a few seasons ago,. And Jax with others showed it was good to have a murderous middle.

still... top 10 DT don’t work out that often.

Let's say Cam is the opposite of fragile at the position.

Let's say Russell Wilson is pretty fragile due to his size.

Cam has led the league in hits during the time they were both starting---and Wilson is second.

What is the difference?  Wilson had a better OL, better coaching, and they did not have him running QB draws and options all the time.

If we were to draft Tua, would the protection be better and the play calling more aligned with the QB's longevity?  Yes.  So why was Cam so abused here?  His size makes him seem invincible, and we could skimp on the OL while investing in the D---it was a fool's errand, but Rivera was a self-serving moron.

My point, besides that about Rivera?  We draft Tua, build a stud OL, and teach him to throw the ball away and slide, and he should be fine.  All players are at risk of injury.  Even kickers.

Excellent post.  Sums my position up much better than I could.

Do you think he's wrong?  I see Love as a 2nd round prospect

I have seen flashes from him--but his supporting cast was pretty bad. I think he could be as low as 50, if that is fair.  I think he is a Patriot waiting to happen.

    • You're correct (on its face). But PFF does indeed use advanced stats to come up with their grades. Not trying to turn this into a debate about PFF (at all because it's been done ad nauseum), but here is how PFF explains it:   GRADES VS. STATS We aren’t grading players based on the yardage they rack up or the stats they collect. Statistics can be indicative of performance but don’t tell the whole story and can often lie badly. Quarterbacks can throw the ball straight to defenders but if the ball is dropped, you won't see it on the stat sheet. Conversely, they can dump the ball off on a sequence of screen passes and end up with a gaudy looking stat line if those skill position players do enough work after the catch. PFF grades the play, not its result, so the quarterback that throws the ball to defenders will be downgraded whether the defender catches the ball to notch the interception on the stat sheet or not. No amount of broken tackles and yards after the catch from a bubble screen will earn a quarterback a better grade, even though his passing stats may be getting padded. The same is true for most positions. Statistics can be misleading. A tackle whose quarterback gets the ball out of his hands quicker than anybody else may not give up many sacks, but he can still be beaten often and earn a poor grade. Receivers that are targeted relentlessly could post big-time numbers but may offer little more than the product of a volume-based aerial attack. https://www.pff.com/grades So PFF uses stats to come up with player grades and rankings.
