Daniel Jones — Hypothetical

Reports of Giants being extremely interested in Herbert who is the “top QB on their board” along with a new coaching staff. Yes DG drafted Jones last year and it’s 99.99% likely that they stick with him, but let’s say hypothetically they want to move on from Jones and take Herbert...

Would you be interested in Daniel Jones? What would you be willing to give up? 7 overall? He did show a ton of promise last year with no weapons outside of Barkley and a sh*t OL... Yeah it’s not gonna happen but still an interesting discussion.

I personally wouldn’t trade more value for him than the equivalent of a mid to late first round pick. 7 overall would be too much for me.

You don't draft a QB at #5 overall if the guy you just drafted last year at #6 overall actually "showed a ton of promise".

In reality, I think this is probably just a comically bad attempt to drum up a trade market for #5 to move down a few spots and still land one of the top OT prospects.

That’s very likely the case but there is a brand new HC there.

Hayell no. A third at best. They probably wouldn’t take that, but I wouldn’t offer more.

If it wasn't for just signing Bridgewater to a stupid deal, I'd happily send them #38. Jones is a helluva lot better (and cheaper) than Bridgewater. He threw for 24 TDs as a rookie in 12 starts than Teddy has ever thrown in a season (that number is 14 by the way).

I guess you’re not wrong, I just don’t see him as a guy to build around. I put him on a similar level as Teddy, based on what little I’ve seen.  Maybe I’m wrong though, I didn’t watch a lot of Giants games

Teddy is not our QB in 3 years. He's fine for now because, believe it or not, we're not going to win the SB this year... shocking, I know.

But I would rather have every pick (even trading down to get more) to build our O-line and entire defense, so that when we do get our QB of the future, we actually can protect him and not have to play from behind every game.  Lawrence or Fields, come and play on your feet, not on your back.  Teddy can be our Alex Smith, and Justin Fields can be our Mahomes.

    • They can get film of all the games? Every team? Wow! Who knew… Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.
    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
