Draft coverage impression

I was getting frustrated with the coverage so I took a Valium. It was better after that.

When NASCAR coverage starts at 1:00 there is a green flag time you can google. 1:23? great I'll tune in then. The actual first person drafted was 8:27. 17 minutes of that was reminding us there was a pandemic and we should be sad or happy depending on the moment.

Then they would say pick is in and wait six minutes to tell you who it was. Then they would talk about a dead or dying relative for 5 minutes while the next pick was already in. Then some images of people in masks. Often sepia.

A bit of  hyperbole for sure but like I said the second hour flowed much better. Because of the Valium.

*tries to imagine Happy Panther, who comes off as the most chill and laid back poster on the forum by a wide margin as needing a Valium.*

Nope.

Can't do it.

EVERYONE else might need a Valium, but most of the time you seem perfectly fine sir.

I watched it on ABC with the College Gameday staff. Those guys are the best in the biz IMO. They all played in college and the NFL, watch, and study the guys they're talking about. The first round went way past my expectations regarding the production. The best part was Goodell trying to pump up the fans lmao

Usually when I get agitated over something benign I have a cocktail. And for something like the draft I would have one in hand anyway. Having spent a week in the hospital last week (don't worry I'm healthy) it was forced sobriety for five days so I saw that as a good excuse to be fully sober for a while. Valium is to help with the stress trigger. That was the first one I took.

Yeah I'm pretty damn laid back overall. Thanks for the compliment.

    • More praise of Renfrow from Tim Weaver (formerly of USA Today's Panthers Wire, now SI.com), and also what I told some of you, my Huddle friends, from the start: keep it all in perspective, and don't conveniently---and perhaps unfairly, discount and label Renfrow as a JAG when it was a very debilitating illness affecting his play.    "It's understandable to be skeptical about Renfrow's abilities at this late point in his career. After all, he missed all of last season due to a bout of ulcerative colitis that also took a serious toll on his production in 2022 and 2023."   When Renfrow is healthy, he's an above average guy. Being 29 may hurt or help his chances depending upon perspective, but 29 for receivers generally means that there's still (sometimes plenty) gas in the tank. Renfrow also obviously has plenty of motivation and has come with his game face.   "Then agan, seeing is believing and by all accounts Renfrow has been very impressive since joining the Panthers a few months ago... Where Renfrow will fit in Carolina's new-look receiver corps remains to be seen, but at this rate it's going to be hard to exclude him from the initial 53-man roster." https://www.si.com/nfl/panthers/hunter-renfrow-sick-route-panthers-training-camp Read the room, ladies and gentlemen. And don't get it twisted; Renfrow isn't the most talented receiver on the team, but we have seen his ceiling, when healthy, in a Raiders offense that wasn't necessary replete with talent. Consider what he can do, especially in the slot, in a Panthers offense primed with young talent (no pun intended). From sick to "sick routes," eh.
    • That is literally what I am talking about. Those were 53 man cuts. Not at the beginning of camp.  I would say the odds of Barno being back are extremely thin.
