The talk was Trai and Newton were good friends, they wanted no locker room issues. Trai’s play had also fallen off for various reasons.

Not complaining at all about trading Trai. It just made no sense for a rebuilding team to trade for an aging LT on a one year contract. Trade for draft assets to help the rebuild. Okung was likely to be sipping mai tais by the pool by the time we were competitive anyway.

why trade FOR someone who isnt a long term player? just to say fug you to one of the best guards to ever play for us?

Marty Hurney is always thinking that he's outsmarting everyone while the rest of the league laughs at him (and us).

Marty-Hurney

Marty Hurney still in place as the GM is by far and away the biggest red flag of the Tepper era so far. The guy is just a proven terrible NFL GM.

Can't completely blame Hurney, but yeah Trai should've been traded for a draft pick, not a probable one year rental of a LT on a rebuilding team.

If Okung wants to play, sure.  But if he's worried about his health, retire away, throw some young guys in the fire and see what sticks.  Deliver us our new QB in the process.

This was infecting Italy and spreading into the rest of Europe link in February. The idea business were not planing at this time of Covid-19 being an issue is ludicrous. By March 17th NC had closed bars and nightclubs which are still closed if a private club. The entire angle of Hurney getting a get out of jail free card for a dumb trade that could get worse is just false.

I kind of hope he does retire, then we get a real good look at the available options and know if we need to upgrade this off season and not next year. So who plays LT if they were giving Little a look at OG back in March? Quoted

The oline failures have been on Hurney, it’s not about knowing if he’d retire despite the obvious risk, it’s be neglected and wrong people have been paid. It’s that it comes down to something like this, not that it happened. Gross the only tackle in over 25 years worth a poo drafted by this team? Where in the hell is his replacement? Why the fug are you signing Paradis? Gettle didn’t help because the franchise paid for M&R Kalil when that money could’ve been allocated elsewhere. Even signed Norwell. I’d rather have him on the decline instead of a player on the bench.

So now a band aid doesn’t turn out and that’s all it takes? No depth, no future planning. It’s like finding a WR all over again. Hurney simply can’t draft an olineman, QB (cam doesn’t count he was drafted due to the restructure of contracts you can bet your ass we’d have Gabbert otherwise and if you think different I’ll consider you a new fan) or wide receiver to save his gd life. Get used to it.

But what was Okung going to do? Help us win 2 games instead of 1?

Maybe keep Teddy off of IR. From a team perspective, I doubt he was going to make a huge difference. From a Teddy Bridgewater perspective, I'm making sure my life insurance policy is solid.

I’d agree if I expected Okung to miss fewer than six games before this.
