Roster Control

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

Depends on the narrative...I've read on here that Rhule supposedly had full control of the widely praised draft, but Marty had full control of all other roster moves in the offseason like signing Bridgewater and keeping Short.  Not sure how that makes sense, but you know what they say: "Always believe everything you read on the internet from anonymous posters on a message board".  Or something like that...that might be paraphrased.

With the shaping of the final roster just over the horizon, there's one thing I'd like to know about roster control.

Who really has it?

Prior to his getting the Panthers job, the word on Matt Rhule was that he wanted full roster control. Not surprisingly, NFL teams balked at the idea of giving that to a coach with so little NFL experience.

But how much control did the Panthers give him?

They balked over full staff control.

That's a question for Tepper.  None of us idiots know the answer to that.
